Although I like reading the articles in cut and paste's I do believe that if you like an article enough to cut and paste it in here then you should like it or dislike it enough to explain yourself. If you are going to put an article in here then you should be the first one to post on it and start the conversation.

I give a flip either way.

The paste is good if original content disappears.

The link is good for reference or original content.

Why is this a problem?

Cut, paste, COMMENT.

And not a one sentence "wow this is interesting" type of comment, either. That doesn't fly. If you cant' put a few sentences together on how the article affects your worldview then why share with the group?

That said, I think we should distinguish between NEWS C&P and COMEDY C&P. If it's a "news of the weird" or a comedy clip from youtube or break.com, then I don't need commentary, I just need the funny.

I like the cut and pastes, as long as they aren't of the "drive-by pot-stirring" variety. I rarely follow links to outside pages. I've clicked on too many "blind" links that have turned out to be either A) not relevant to my interests and a complete waste of my time or B) something that is too poorly written or supported to be worth reading. Article quotes or summaries are great for getting to the main point of the matter so I can determine if a full read is worth my time or not.

I've gleaned many interesting bits of news and info from many cut-paste jobs here, and in my opinion are great thread jumping-off points if properly supported.

IMO a cut and paste with no comment is a drive-by post. It allows the poster to tailor their "opinion" based on whichever way the wind is blowing in the thread.

If no opinion posted, i say delete

Maybe I'm not exactly sure on how an article I find fits my worldview?

That's why we're here, right, to learn?

I would in no way imply that I have all my ideologies defined. I enjoy both sides of the coin presented here, though I don't always agree.

If thats the case then why not just toss in there "well, i'm not sure how i feel about this, i'm leaning towards x but see the merits of y. What are your opinions? try and sway me" etc?

I don't think there's any use for a straight cut/paste with no comment.

Since many cut and paste things are missed unless I see them here, I say leave them alone. I don't want to spend hours searching the net for stuff to read, if somebody posts it here, that is the reason I come here.... too read what people post.
If I am offended I no longer read what that person posts, I don't see the problem.

I don't want to click anymore links to get spy-ware and god only knows what added to my puter'.

If somebody posts an article that they think is useful why do they have to give a speech about it?

This whole subject seems petty, if the server is overloaded say so. Otherwise if you don't want to read a "cut and paste" don't click the subject. Pretty easy.

I think providing a link while quoting the pertinent parts of the article are the way to go. Pasting the entire article doesn't make much sense.

Of course, some meaningful commentary is required.
