PV forum poll..........

OK, I've had some PMs and have sent a few as I try and figure out what course to chart here, so here is a poll and an open thread regarding what you all think needs to happen in here, or not.

Hit the poll, post up your opinions.

Wouldnt "drop the ban hammer" and "Moderate it very tightly" be the same?

i do not post much but i say it needs to stay open, but it should only be open to politics that relate to guns and nothing else. this is a gun forum not a political debate forum.

To be honest Mark, I really don't care. I've never been on a political forum yet that has remained civil. For a forum to self-moderate there has to be a modicum of respect. You will find little of that in these venues. You either allow a free-for-all or you stifle dissent. There is no middle ground.
You have adults on here that act like juveniles. You have some that can't control their temper. You have some that are pyromaniacs. That like to start a fire, and then watch it as it blazes out of control.
The moderate minded ones can't control this and have either left, or visit infrequently.
It serves little purpose to name names, because everyone will point their finger at the other guy.
Rational give n' take is not acceptable. You have two distinct political ideologies here, and one won't sway the other. Acceptance of ones belief is unacceptable. You're wrong....period.
If it were me I would shut it down, and return XD Talk to it's original purpose.
My opinion.

I say leave it open Mark. If folks cross the line severely, drop the hammer. Once that is done a couple of times, things will certainly get calmer...

This should be stressed. I very much enjoy the discussion of politics, but I choose to do so on another forum...a forum where no matter how much we disagree, a certain level of respect is not only expected...it is demanded.

I'm interested in hearing from the rapib dissenter "voters". Is that rapid dissenters from the GOP...or rapid dissenters with moderate and liberal view points? Surely no one who believes in this country and what it stands for would ever be a "rapid dessenter" from our 1A right and open discussions and debate?

As my diesel mechanic Grandfather used to tell me (an over-compulsive organized freak), when you step outside into this shi7hole of a world, recognize there are tools on both sides of the workshop.

Now I'm not sure if he meant there are "over zealous loonies" on both sides of issues...or there are reasons for having a left-right balance to our government.

Either way Grandpa was a drunk who spoke the truth and absolutely hated folks who refused to 'think' before they talk. He loved a great joke, a good ribbing, but absolutely despised those that slurp their own bathwater, attempt to belittle or shout down others, and are unable to organize and articulate their own thoughts--and instead regurgitate someone elses garbage or insults.

Springfield XD enthusiests are not one size fit's all underwear. They are simply gun owners who love their hardware...and they come from all over the world, fat, skinny, old, young, man, women, gentile and jew. Throw in a couple of non-believers and fanatics and you got yourself the PV forum.

What I despise are the ones who wrap themselves in Patriotism, Glory of God, Freedom, and the American way...but sit there and belittle their fellow citizen, registered voter, and often times veteran and/or fellow christian...solely because they didn't vote for the GOP candidate.

You can shut it down, ban the zealots, lock threads, label me, call me an idiot all dang long. I'm not leaving. I do my best to play by the rules...and I don't give one ratz *** who thinks I drink pretty flavored color drinks. I've voted for both sides of the aisle on many ocassions. I contributed to both campaigns. I think man is flawed, just like the two politicians who were running.

At the end of the day, I love my Springfield weapon, I love this forum and a couple of characters in this place...but I think it's high time to tell some folks on both sides that if they don't calm the eff down and **** for a second and listen to the rules for playing in the sandbox...then kick their azzes to the curb.

I've said it before and I will say it again. One Team~One Fight. Thanks for the opportunity.

Mark, you are doing great, don't shut this place down, others can simply leave if they wish...if I had the chance to vote for two people who I think would be great mod's, it would have been You and Frenchy.

Have a great weekend.

I have chosen somewhere else to discuss politics as well. That is not to say that I do not find our PV forum very very entertaining and I would hate to see it go...I say enforce the rules--put up a strike system--3 strikes, you're out!

I also have to edit my post after seeing what PSC said above. I also would like to hear from those rabid dissenter voters. That is what America is about--checks and balances, agreements-disagreements. I respect people who vote for the other side and I want to know WHY they voted the way they did. Would I have voted for who I did last year if I could do it all over again? Maybe. Would "XXX" have voted for Obama if he'd known he would wreck the country? Probably not. But I want to know why I should vote for a certain candidate.

I voted "leave it alone".

Most of us are here because we love our XD(M)'s. I think that those that are here just to cause "political unrest" and to make trouble are fairly well known and generally aren't taken to seriously.

(Besides, "Freedom of Speech" is just as vital to a "FREE" nation as the "Right to Bear Arms".)

There is no freedom of speech on a private forum. Moderators and ownership can either be benevolent despots, or brutal dictators...their choice, not yours.
