Speking of which, whatever happened to PowerFang? He was quite entertaining at times with his outta left field (or maybe more outta RIGHT field ) perspectives.

There are a few others who seem to have disappeared completely as well.

Honestly, this place was "self moderated" and it went to crap. JMO. At least before, there was a minimum level of respect here. It was a rather civil place....even with all the passion. The real trouble makers were dealt with, and there was a certain line most would not cross.

Now.... complete flame fest. Constant relentless bickering between the same 10 people in every single thread posted. Then get the other 20 drive by posters fanning the flames and we get this mess we are in now.

If I want a no holds barred slug fest I'll go to Pirate 4x4. If I want to argue with idiot kids and get into a bunch of drama, I'll go to My Space. Here I come to discuss politics with adults.

Close the PV, open the PV, moderate it don't moderate it. Don't really care. Give me what you are going to give me, and I'll decide if I want to take it.

But here are just some sugestions.....

If you warn everyone that the PV is UNMODERATED, then tell those that complain to go away.

If you tell everyone the PV is SELF MODERATED, then don't complain when all those "selfs" do what they want.

If you have a C.O.C....then is is meaningless without enforcement. Either enforce it, or don't have it.

I think things would settle down around here if the rules already in place were simply enforced. Only a hand full of trouble makers need to change and follow the COC, or be banned. Everything else would fall in line and we could get back to some adult discussion on the state of affairs in this country. Even with all the passion and opposing points of view.

Do it and stick with it. If it's un-moderated, leave it un-moderated.

Maybe there's a way to remove the "report' button from that forum. If someone truly has a problem with a particular thread/ post, they can PM the mod online or all of them. This will take a bit more work on the reporters part, but they can do that if they're truly offended. You may be receiving some of these reports because it's easy to click a button or two.

Also, you know what you're getting into when you have to accept a separate agreement to be in there. If you don't want to be in there because people offend you, leave (except for blatantly obvious CoC violations)!

Personally, I learn a lot from the PV and would like to see it remain open, for all political issues. I know this is a gun forum, but if you're going to use that logic let's get rid of the Video Game forum. In fact, this is a XD website, let's get rid of the AR and AK forums too. There should not even be a sub-group of "Non-Firearms Related" if you're going to use that logic.

I don't want to see any forums closed, AR/ AK, Video game, etc... We have a great group of people with a vast array of knowledge and I have learned a lot from them. Even if it's not firearms related, I have learned a lot.

All in all, please stick with your decision because this flip-flopping is ridiculous. I say leave PV how it is and move on.
My God this was well said!!! Bravo!!

I too agree. Leave it alone or get rid of it. Leave it unmoderated. If the weenies who post here and complain when their feelings are hurt, kick them off. They asked to join the PV group, let them suffer the complaints. I too am sick of seeing it open, then closed, then open with conditions, then open to all debate, then closed again. . . . screw that. Open it or close it, choose one.

As my diesel mechanic Grandfather used to tell me (an over-compulsive organized freak), when you step outside into this shi7hole of a world, recognize there are tools on both sides of the workshop.

Now I'm not sure if he meant there are "over zealous loonies" on both sides of issues...or there are reasons for having a left-right balance to our government.

Either way Grandpa was a drunk who spoke the truth and absolutely hated folks who refused to 'think' before they talk. He loved a great joke, a good ribbing, but absolutely despised those that slurp their own bathwater, attempt to belittle or shout down others, and are unable to organize and articulate their own thoughts--and instead regurgitate someone elses garbage or insults.

Springfield XD enthusiests are not one size fit's all underwear. They are simply gun owners who love their hardware...and they come from all over the world, fat, skinny, old, young, man, women, gentile and jew. Throw in a couple of non-believers and fanatics and you got yourself the PV forum.

What I despise are the ones who wrap themselves in Patriotism, Glory of God, Freedom, and the American way...but sit there and belittle their fellow citizen, registered voter, and often times veteran and/or fellow christian...solely because they didn't vote for the GOP candidate.

You can shut it down, ban the zealots, lock threads, label me, call me an idiot all dang long. I'm not leaving. I do my best to play by the rules...and I don't give one ratz *** who thinks I drink pretty flavored color drinks. I've voted for both sides of the aisle on many ocassions. I contributed to both campaigns. I think man is flawed, just like the two politicians who were running.

At the end of the day, I love my Springfield weapon, I love this forum and a couple of characters in this place...but I think it's high time to tell some folks on both sides that if they don't calm the eff down and **** for a second and listen to the rules for playing in the sandbox...then kick their azzes to the curb.

I've said it before and I will say it again. One Team~One Fight. Thanks for the opportunity.

Mark, you are doing great, don't shut this place down, others can simply leave if they wish...if I had the chance to vote for two people who I think would be great mod's, it would have been You and Frenchy.

Have a great weekend.
Very well said from start to finish.

Mark, I voted moderate tightly and evenly enforce the rules. Political arguments get out of hand FAST in my experiences, unless moderated. While this is a mainly conservative forum, it seems that people of all views and parties are welcome to join. While most here do not agree with a lot of my points and beliefs, I still think I have the right to express them. Truth be told, this is not a public forum, this is a privately owned and run forum. Kermee can quash any views he chooses. This forum is not subject to any of the 1st Amendment. It seems that while some views differ, it would appear that the dissenting voices have not been silenced. If they were, I would have been banned a long time ago. I say enforce the rules evenly. Both sides of any argument should be subject to the same rules. JMO. Keep up the good work.

Since name calling seems to be what most get offended by is it still out of line for me to call Beck a D-bag even if I am not calling the poster a d-bag?

I kid ... I kid! I'll debate the issue and not the d-bag that is quoted.

It's the back and forth BS between the same half a dozen or so people that causes 90% of the problems here. Because of that a lot of people don't bother anymore. I have only recently decided to spend time here again with the hopes that Mark can get it under control. The way I look at it, give fair warning to anyone who gets out of line, then ban them if they continue their crap. Like someone else said, a couple drops of the hammer and peole would probably straighten up.

I haven't posted in the PV for some time. It gives me a headache banging my head against a brick wall this much. And when I stop, it just hurts more because of the throbbing. I also haven't read here since it's always a back-and-forth and nothing really gets learned. I learn more on my drives all over WI, listening to XM radio...

But even though I've kind of been distancing from the PV, I agree that it is a great place to "vent our spleen" about this crazy political environment. Posting here is a freedom of speech in my books (even though 1A doesn't technically apply to a private forum). Please don't take that away. If self-moderation shows that it cannot in fact self-moderate, then kick those who start the disturbance out.

There is a right way and a wrong way to express your points in a logical, thought out manner. Slicing and dicing the other person, is not conducive to a logical discussion (guilty as charged). I try to keep things light. I was the class clown afterall, which didn't stop at High school or college for that matter. Humor keeps one from going insane...

But I digress. Looking at Wired's comments, I most agree with
