I also have to edit my post after seeing what PSC said above. I also would like to hear from those rabid dissenter voters. That is what America is about--checks and balances, agreements-disagreements. I respect people who vote for the other side and I want to know WHY they voted the way they did. Would I have voted for who I did last year if I could do it all over again? Maybe. Would "XXX" have voted for Obama if he'd known he would wreck the country? Probably not. But I want to know why I should vote for a certain candidate.

I pretty much agree with this idea - the three strikes and you're out kind of thing. Or at least offer a warning system. I know it's hard to moderate because you can't catch all of the infractions, but I think banning someone for one infraction would be harsh.

I also like to hear from a variety of viewpoints. Minds do get changed, even if it's just a fraction of an inch. And, people learn things. I know for myself, I don't like to be proven wrong, so I have become a major researcher. And, I learn about where other people are coming from, if the posts are thoughtfully made.

So far, I think you're doing a really good job. People are more aware. I don't disagree with your closing down my Palin thread yesterday. But I often post something before I go to work, and then I can't come on the site until that evening. I post it for comment, and then come back and comment later. But, that's cool. I could have said more about the article in my initial post.

I am not doing this because of folks griping, I am doing because of what I personally observe in here.

This place is a shade of it's former self and it either needs put out of it's misery or given some good medicine
I did not vote because I do not see the option there that I would select, which would be to set up a warning system.

free speech....let's support in in our country and support in on a discussion forums so differing points of view can expressed....debated....and even laughed at. This isn't kiddy school.

Use the power of ignore if you don't like what our trolls have to say.

As stated several times "freedom of speech" is NOT extended to private operations. This forum can be 'moderated' any way the host see's fit. The 1st amendment doesn't extend here.

Now if you want to go to the town square to air your gripes, have at it.

Here's my $0.02

Political topics are very personal issues for everyone, and can get heated quickly due to the "how can they possibly not agree with my infallible logic???" factor. Stern opposition and a little heated debate should be completely fine as long as the ridiculous name calling crap stays out of it. In my opinion, if you MUST ridicule something, ridicule the viewpoint, not the person giving it. I personally don't think ridicule has a purpose in heated debate, but I know others feel differently.

Bottom line? It's the freakin' internet, folks. No need to get all riled up and offended by some faceless person on the other end of the 'tubes. Pass out a few of these to the boys, and everyone will be fine.

^ Understood and agreed. However, it would be nice to support and structure the forum under the concept of 1A. In other words--allowing for multiple views on the topic. Agreed, yes?

The operators here should support free speech and the flow of differing points of view. We as a group should support free speech in all aspects and encourage the moderators and administrators of Xdtalk to support a pro first amendment forum. Anything less is hypocritical.

I agree with you on this one, but your choice of NFL football team leaves all else suspect.

I have no problem with multiple views.

I think the point I was making is that 1A rights don't extend to private operations. LOTS of people either don't realize that or chose to ignore that fact, and then are SHOCKED that they can't spew anything they want.
