Issa goes Rahm-bo on Rahm

This is exactly the kind of pushback it’s going to take to defeat Obama’s culture of corruption. Call them out. Shine the light on their hardball tactics and astroturf campaigns. Fight.
Following reports that White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel has been orchestrating an effort to intimidate members of Congress and Governors who raise legitimate concerns regarding the effectiveness of the stimulus, House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Ranking Member Darrell Issa (R-CA) sent a letter to Emanuel saying “While this type of scare tactic may work In Chicago, it will not work to intimidate me or other Members of the United States Congress.”
“I and others have dared to bring these facts to the attention of President Obama, the Congress and the American people,” Issa wrote. “You’ve unfortunately reacted by once again resorting to the playbook of the Chicago political machine.”
Last month, Politico reported that Emanuel had “launched a coordinated effort to jam” Senator Kyl and other Administration critics… “[A]fter seeing Kyl and House Minority Whip Eric Cantor (R-VA) again paint the legislation as a failure on Sunday talk shows, White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel directed that the letters from the Cabinet secretaries be sent to [Governor] Brewer, according to two administration officials.”
Issa noted, “The fact that the letters were coordinated by you to maximize the level of intimidation is supported by the timing, structure, and content of each letter. Not only were the four letters all sent the day following Senator Kyl’s remarks, but they were also remarkably similar in tone and sentence structure.”
ETA:
“I am sick and tired of people who say that if you debate and you disagree with this administration, somehow you’re not patriotic, and we should stand up and say, ‘WE ARE AMERICANS AND WE HAVE A RIGHT TO DEBATE AND DISAGREE WITH ANY ADMINISTRATION!’”
- Hillary Rodham Clinton
ETA2:
Capone (aka Emanuel): I want you to get this #$%^ where he breathes! I want you to find this nancy-boy Eliot Ness (aka Darrell Issa), I want him DEAD! I want his family DEAD! I want his house burned to the GROUND! I wanna go there in the middle of the night and I wanna #$%^ ON HIS ASHES!

Reason: Added Hillary Clinton quote, then "Capone."
Excellent! Have you seen the videos of Spector [et al.] getting reamed by every-day citizens at Town Hall meetings? Our country is finally waking up and becoming vocal!
One of the most popular themes of videos I am seeing on youtube are of people outraged at the representatives at townhall meetings. I love it!

I agree. Rahm should model himself more like Karl Rove, who not only liked "debate", but openly contested the President on every decision and choice.
And he frequently offered Democrats a seat at the table when it came to high level talks for any idea or program.
BOTH parties engage in strong arm tactics.
Next?
Ah, the old fallback position. Unfortunately we're talking about what's happening today. Of course both parties do this if they are able. Barry and Rahm have just taken this to a new and more overt level by publicly threatening many. Remember the Chrysler bondholders they screwed and how that was accomplished?

It's not a "fallback" position. Why don't people on EITHER side of the aisle quit pretending that "the other guy" is the only one that engages in this type of behavior.
Each one screams "We might have done it....but the OTHER guy is worse!"
This arguement is about as fruitful as my other favorite "Yeah, we might have done it......but if xxxxxxx had done it...YOU guys wouldn't have said a thing!"

May I point out who it was that introduced this argument into this thread?
Another whiff. Try for singles, the homers are certainly few and far between for you.

There's a difference between sarcasm and a statement. My statement isn't meant as "funny", so no whiff there. Or are you saying that BOTH sides don't engage in petty fights about "who does what"?
Instead of the defenders of Obama ALWAYS saying, "Well Bush did it too!", why not actually comment on the article that was posted?
*Newsflash*
Bush is not the president anymore! He is nothing now. He is a has-been former president.
How about you comment about how the chief of staff is threatening those in congress who disagree with the administration? Does this not concern you?

Right, and Clinton hasn't been the President for years and it seems plenty of GOP'ers are more than willing to use him for any excuse they can't pin on Obama.
As far as "threating" that's a loaded term. If he's saying that something bad will happen to them/their family, sure that's out of line. (And probably criminal) If he's "threating" to derail future legislation they support, or programs they like, or some pork barrel spending they support...well that's part of the game.
They are big boys, and if they can't play the game...someone else needs to be elected in their place. Politics ain't for sissy's. On either side of the aisle.
