In any case, we're looking at the beginning of world war 3... An economical war where China owns all of us. Sad, but true.

oh thats right obama is more worried about increased government spending, gov't jobs, apologizing to other countries for who knows what, and increasing the size of the government instead of fixing the economy by cutting/eliminating the capital gains tax, cutting taxes on small businesses, and cutting taxes on working americans. Capital gains tax just sends our jobs overseas.

Are you saying that we should cut taxes and increase the deficit then?

I think they are saying that if we WERE to go into debt ala stimulus, the most effective and direct way would be to decrease the penalties on making capital, which is what the economy is based on (businesses making money, and people making money working for businesses).

Only stupid people would think ensuring the safety of mice in San Francisco is somehow going to get a return on the investment, because mice don't buy cars or TVs...or maybe they do, I haven't read all 1000+ pages of the porkulus. There might be a subsidy in there for mice...

Historically, the mulitiplier effect for stimulating the economy through spending is greater than that of lowering taxes.

I see. That link goes to an explanation of the 40s-60s as far as this phenomenon is concerned. Do you have any that might be more recent that have occurred on this massive a scale in percentage of GDP?

The statistics were through the 70s, from what I can tell.

I don't have proof. It's something I have noticed, and it has been commented upon by newscasters at the time it was happening. Clinton did it. Bush did it. Probably Reagan did it too.
