They will spend money no matter what. I don't know what will stop them. Just look at the growth of government under both parties. The only president in recent memory who seemed to take the deficit seriously was Clinton. I did not vote for Clinton and was not a fan, so I'm not trying to build him up. I'm just stating facts. Republicans spend the money on defense and wars and give tax cuts to the rich - although they now are getting into the social programs too - like the Medicare prescription drug benefit. Democrats spend it on wars too, but they like to spread the wealth around to the downtrodden. I've been a member of both parties and there's really not much difference between them except for differences in emphasis and the people who make up their bases. |
