The problem is the UN attempting to dictate and control the actions of a sovereign nation. Sort of like the IPCC's attempt to control and hamstring American industry even further via the Kyoto Protocols. Sort of like back door US gun control via UN treaties.

I did make an intelligent counter argument.

I told you all the ways you were wrong, and our tax dollars (assuming you pay taxes) goes to pay for drugs directly, hookers directly, and abortions.

You had no basis for your lies. You simply dont like the truth being out there.

you calling the truth a lie, then leaving is not an intelligent argument. It comes across as pathetic damage control.

"Think" what you want about subjective stuff. You called facts lies. What you dismissed is true, it is out there in the open, it is rampant, and it has happened for well over 50 years.

Personal?

How is a rebuttal of a lie personal, unless the lie was personal.

Personal is saying person X is a ----. Hard to say exactly since many of our most prolific posting lefties call names daily, name calling is par for the course.

I didnt say anything that was untrue.

You did say untrue stuff.

one could call you a liar. That would not be personal. That would be just a fact.

I think of personal stuff as your looks, your accent, your wife or kids, your life.

Anyways, way to fit the role of the sterotype liberal. You make no intelligent argument to the speaker in the vid. Just a basis claim.

Then i added details, and YOU called it not intelligent .... gotcha.

Go back to your kool aide. The black jesus long legged mac daddy will save you.

LBJ's Great Society and the War on Poverty provided official, ongoing wealth-redistribution funded Federal support for the "endemic underclass."

But maybe I'm being unfair... could be FDR's socialist activities really started it all rolling.

This is the sloganeering and hyperbole I was talking about. Your last sentence suggest that the impact of slavery ended in 1868. It didn't. Black Codes and Jim Crow laws were designed to and very effective at maintaining white superiority. Hell, I have friends who can remember in the last 40 years the local public pool allowed Mexican Americans to swim only on Wednesday. Why? Because they cleaned the pool on Thursday. This didn't happen in the 1880s it happened in the 1970s.

To be honest, a whole lot of other liberals do too, me for one. Same thing goes for welfare. Few to none of the liberals I know (again myself included) are at all in favor of handouts to those who refuse to work. Aff act and welfare are both are less than optimal solutions for intractible problems. How do we solve them?
Now, how do we solve the problem?

Now,

So, a different type of racism is helpful then? Let's give everything to everyone, and tell white people that no matter how hard they work they will never get ahead by the sheer accident of their skin color and then declare it is to "help" people. What if people don't want to be "helped" as they find it equally demeaning? Liberals are fascinated by racism to the point of obsession and stupidty. I see a person for their character, not their color. I don't befriend people because of color, rather in spite of it. Unfortunately, this is impossible for liberals.

post war on poverty, 30 % more blacks live below the poverty line today than 1964.

Which is kinda crazy when it costs 64 grand for someone on wellfare.

Think of it like this.

If someone simply promised to stay off wellfare and just subside on weeds and garbage for only 5 years, and then collect their per unit costs ... if that money went to an account for 5 years, and collected interest, say 9 % or so, in 5 years.

Compound Interest Calculator

65 k

5 years

9% compounded annually.

said well fare person could get a check for $524,000.

if they simply lived on 5% interest for one year they would make double their income from well fare in the past. They would net about 25k

they could simply live on the principal and every year net 50k a middle class income doing nothing the rest of their life.

Or 500k could be the down payment on a multi million dollar business,

2.5 million business 20% down = 500k

they could in a not so wild example make upwards of 200k, maybe even 300k or 400k EVERY YEAR!!!!!

The immense wealth squandered on buying votes is mind boggling.

Folks decry a rep taking money, or even lobbyist money, which is the money from regular folks most of the time. THEY HAVE NO PROBLEM with some 70-80 year old who hasnt worked since 1938. Essentially this persons vote is being bought yearly to the tune of 65k.

Perpetual underclass means no one can rise up. Do you know what the word perpetual means. That means no one. Every heard of a perpetual motion machine ? Its impossible, because inorder to be perpetual no energy can be drained, which means there can be no motion. In order for perpetual underclass to exist ... NO ONE ... NO ONE EVER can rise up even one teeny tiny %.

Kinda funny if some millionair rights a check for $3,000 to support cause X, or the farmers association sends a rep to DC, but its perfectly ok that for most of this century, the democrats have used other peoples money to buy the votes of their constituants.

The fact is we as a nation face a number of critical social and economic problems (not to mention foreign policy). To fix them we've got to let go of the name calling and crap flinging ON ALL SIDES. We are building an endemic underclass. This is bad for a whole host of reasons. How do we solve these problems? Ditch the slogans, bag the hyperbole, how do we solve our problems?
Then you should focus on Etta ... Even though it is against the CoC to talk about other members, she did make the claim of racism, and thus inflected racism where most others have not seen it.

Your response, almost would not make sense, if not for her use of a label.

Not at all. Nor did I intend to imply it did not exist before LBJ. Somewhere in Scripture is a statement to the effect "The poor will always be with us" (forgive the paraphrase); this is an age-old condition.

You specifically mentioned an "endemic underclass."

Government subsidy (via wealth-redistribution) of the "endemic underclass" - to use your term - did not exist prior to LBJ, and arguably prior to FDR. I would argue that government subsidy of poverty encourages poverty. There is a permanent "endemic underclass" of now perhaps three generations that has been funded by welfare, and not supported by self-effort. Elected officials have succeeded in creating a cadre of voters dependent on welfare, to obtain a reliable voting block supporting officials who promote welfare... in essence a "plantation system" of the worst kind, under the guise of "helping the poor." In reality, it keeps people from improving their lot.
