Either way is fine with me. What I don't understand is how anyone can complain about the content within a forum that you had to ask to be a part of!! You joined the Political View group by choice!

I think there might be a couple of people who would volunteer to police the PV and keep people in line. Carnivorous and Frenchy have been mentioned. |

While I completely understand that this is not a "political" forum (meaning XDTalk.com), I am also a realist. Less visitors here mean less visitors to the commercial sponsors of this forum. For better or worse, disagree with the closing or not, that will be the simple reality. As for the PV, I think that it has taken the brunt of the growing membership here. While there are a few left over, the majority of posters in the PV have come here since the PV reopened last year. There has been a large amount of new members (just ask the old server) and the PV has seen a large portion of them. Most of those "misbehaving" in the PV are those same new members. What usually happens is that the XD vets here find them stepping over some line, and we alert them via PM that what they are doing violates the CoC. I was given these heads up on a couple occasions that made me correct my actions when I was new here, and I've sent a few of these friendly warnings myself. I think the PV simply outgrew the ability of fellow members to correct others. That was the main reason for my post about topics going so far off track. Instead, it appears that the topic I intended to use to help correct some of the new members became a catalyst for the mod team to lock it down. Seeing as how I thoroughly enjoyed the PV and the relationships it fostered among myself and others, I feel somewhat responsible for what has transpired.

Too Bad.
It's pretty plain to see why you feel that way. I would much rather see a conditional membership to the PV for those who seem to have trouble with the CoC instead of taking away subject matter from those who can follow it.
So what's the plan now? Are certain subjects going to be banned in the chatterbox? No talking about politics. No discussions about current events outside the scope of guns and 2A? How will that be enforced? Will threads that discuss unapproved topics be locked? And is this permanent? |

I would also support Frenchy as an assistant to help moderate the PV. He has proven himself as a reasonable and unbiased 3rd party that contributes regularly to healthy discussions. If, of course, that route is ever decided upon....

See you elsewhere maybe. Some good people were on here and some good minds contributed to many great discussions. This was a quick and enjoyable place to really find out what was happening and to be able to state your views among many like minded people.

There's a liberal site that does have a couple of Republicans and several conservative or Blue Dog Dems. It really needs support. There is a very small membership fee. I think it's $3. This is the site where Frenchy and I met. Frenchy got turned off by one particular poster, from what I understand (I must admit the guy is a total jerk), but, as long as you're civil, you can post there. There's one gal who posts a ton of articles - from both sides of the issue, and they're very informative. And, the goal of the forum is to find common ground. I used to go there a lot, but found the XD site to be more fun because there were people with different points of view.

If you want gun talk, reloading talk, and actual information about guns, I'm sorry to tell you, this isn't the place to come; however, I've grown to love this forum for the political information.
I have been a big source of information about reloading and, the shooting sports. Hell, I've been to the nationals at camp perry 8yrs in a row as a Jr. shooter. This forum was a great place to talk about politics, however. I understand that this isn't a democracy and, as a moderator, you can do whatever you wish and, I respect that, it's your site but, if this stands, don't expect to see me here anymore. ( I'm sure you don't care but, I'm just letting you know ) What you seem to have here is a LOT of first time gun owners that don't know how to even clean their XD, IMHO. So, have at your discussions on why Wallmart doesn't have ammo on the shelves and, is it ok to dryfire your XD and, what is the best gun to conceal and what is the best defensive ammo to carry.... I'm not interested. I've earned the hard way my knowledge about the shooting sports: ![]() ![]() So, in short, thanks for taking away a good source of information and, thanks for taking away the relationships I've started here..... you're really something, you know. In my own opinion, you are now part of the problem with this country and, I refuse to be part of this site anymore... Now, ban me you POS. PS: I have no respect for butt kissers, if you feel strongly, make yourself heard. Last edited by jwoolf; 06-16-2009 at 11:55 PM. |
