Second, you must have missed my earlier post regarding the uniform of the day and who sets the rules.
Sabres or swords, potato, potatoe.
That being said, I doubt that a 1 star Rear Admiral or his 3 star boss have the horsepower to make that decision. I'm fairly sure it was forced on them. Oddly enough, I just watched Sec Gates at West Point on the evening news, and he seemed do be quite comfortable amongst hundreds of sword (or sabre) carrying new 2Lts. Again, only BO gets special treatment.

I don't see the rep option any more or I would have used it. I, for one, think this was plenty relevant and way more useful and insightful than a lot of posts I had to read through to get to it.

Why is that? Just curious.

Relevance: The op is talking about Obama being around graduates at the USNA graduation, and your post showed a video of John S. McCain IV shaking hands with Obama during that graduation. It showed clearly that even a dagger could have been used to assasinate the president, considering the close proximities involved with a handshake.
Usefulness and insight: It doesn't take much to be more useful and insightful than posting images of the three stooges and a naked guy on a toilet.

Also because XDC said

Have I explained myself clearly enough? For the record, this doesn't mean I'm trying to be "nice." It means I sometimes speak up when someone is disregarded after contributing something intelligent. There are plenty of volunteers to speak up when you say something that isn't.

The distinction between swords or sabers appeared important to you when you made your first post, but I agree.

I'm certain that President Obama would have felt just as comfortable had there been no such uniform change directed.

That a POTUS gets different protocol than a SecDef is surprising to you, yet you (presumably) fly large aircraft? Interesting.

Are you close personal friends with Obama? Are you buds? Do you both pal around together on the weekends? Are you a relative of some sort? Have you actually even ever met him face to face?

I mean ...if the answer is no to any or all of the above questions ...how on earth is it that you can make such statements with 'certainty'?

LOL!

You sound like a Pelosi/Reid apologist.

Because the SS and everyone else on stage would have been on anyone before they even had a chance to draw their 'sword' partway out of the scabbard. Certain enough for you, or should I have used smaller words, so you can get a better understanding? LOL!

Have a marvelous day,

Have a marvelous day,

I see your just as pompous and disingenuous with your "have a marvelous day" ...as always!

What is clear is that you said nothing about having confidence in the SS's ability to protect the president in your earlier post ...what you said was that you were confident in how Obama "felt". Those words were clear ...using larger or smaller words won't change the meaning of your original remark. Neither will your arrogant attitude!

As allways ...care to play the race card again? Maybe that will work!!

That this POTUS gets different treatment than previous Presidents is not surprising, but is somewhat disgusting.

The fact that Sec Gates got no such special accomodations indicates it is not a general fear of violence against high officials.

I am not sure what is interesting about the correlation between my flying large jets and being able to spot blatant hypocrisy and paranoia on the part of a government official, or if there is such a correlation.
