Where were you when Clinton and Gore started Project Echelon?

WHO- they dont care, and havent asked for that information

WHAT- 1 million random web addresses, and records of searches

WHERE- From google, other web services have felt there is no need not to give your information out

Bottom line, they want to see what is searched for, not who searches for it.
I don't consider this as "giving up my freedom". We seem to go through great lengths to tie the hands of law enforcement and then ***** that they let criminals go.

Well, thank you for clearing this up, Tom. CLINTON did it too....therefore it's OK with you that President Bush is authorizing government operatives to spy on you. As long as CLINTON did it, you don't mind. You, sir, can cower before the monster of terrorism and piss away your individual rights if you think that makes you safer.

Or perhaps the point you are making here is that CLINTON was bad, and Bush is worse.

And in case you didn't know, Project Echelon is for monitoring worldwide satellite communications, not wire-tapping U.S. citizens.

Oooops. Project Echelon also captures telephone calls, faxes and e-mails.

The point is...apparently, no one's rights have been violated.

Let's hope you are right, Tom. I choose to remain vigilant.

This statement may come back to haunt the coke-head. He has all but admitted that he is proceeding without judicial oversight.

every amendment is/was a change to the constitution.......

some "freedoms" have been given up and for good reason over the years..... ie: not every POS has the "right" to possess firearms, as the founding fathers stated. thats a good change, and nobody is coming for your "guns"...........

and for the security and safety of our nation, more freedoms will be infringed, but if your not some POS, you'll never notice the changes, so relax.....

And he has that right, per Article II, section 2 of the Constitution.

So you disagree with the President when he says he must have a court order before initiating a wire tap?

Every post in this thread seems to forget the point of why they are asking. They want to use this to show that child porn is searched for and looked at to support their case.

They arent looking at WHO is searching for these things.

How is the government invading your privacy if they dont know who you are, where you are from?

They know nothing about the people who make the searches, only that they were made.

San Jose Mercury news is reporting that MS and Yahoo complied with the governments requests and gave no information about individuals out.
