Man, I wish they had this program or I knew they had this program when I was a kid. I was already playing with airsoft guns every weekend at my local field, you mean to tell me I could get trained to do it by SWAT teams??

I'm glad someone made the obligatory hitler youth analogy though.

I see the media screws a good program again....

Yeah these kids should be in hemp shorts and Birkenstocks recyclying soda cans and yelling at us adults about our gas guzzling SUV's.

Almost every county has at least one PD that sponsors an Explorer post. Same with fire departments.
I'm almost positive there is an Explorer post on Ft Hood as well, sponsored by 1st Cav.

why would an Explorer post sponsored by a Border Patrol station/section/office be any different?

Nothing wrong with teaching these kids what the job is really like, it helps them decide if they want to go into public service.

I don't know if this is bad form or not, but here it goes. A repost for a repost...

OMG!!! What about all the kids that are in JROTC programs?

I went through the AFJROTC program, big deal. I had friends in the CAP. Other friends that were in explorers and the BSA. What this lets the kids do is EXPLORE. If they choose to go on and join a service, they chose to do so with more of an informed decision. It won't be "Hey I want to be a < INSERT SERVICE HERE > because they have a cool uniform." It also has the side effect of teaching them disapline and respect.

Think about this. What other program, other than BSA, keeps kids out of trouble for $10.00 a year.
