This is NOT a regular boys scout troop. It is an Explorer branch. As an Eagle Scout and former explorer I know the difference.

Explorer's allow membership until 21 instead of 18 because you are traditionally older when you join. They don't have badges and are sponsored by fire depts, police stations, etc... There purpose is to provide experiences and training to scouts interested in that type of work or volunteering later in life.

I got news for you

This is nothing but a LEO Explorer post training. They will then go to State and National competition and compete against other Explorers. I did a lot of work with the SWAT team when I was an Explorer. We were taught how to handle calls like Building search, Domestic Battery, Search warrant, traffic stops, High Risk traffic stops, Accident investigations, DUI Enforcement, first aid, EVOC, Shooting real guns (o my god), shoot don't shoot, terrorist attacks such as biological weapons, White collar crime, theft, assault batteries ect. THIS IS NOTHING TO SEE YOU CAN TAKE OFF THE TIN FOIL HAT... Are you sitting down? I rode in a real police car every week even drove them sometimes. Handcuffed real suspects was involved in real life pursuits ect yeah it was a blast as a teen.

Looks like fun. Wish they had that when I was younger. If you think that training is age-inappropriate, who exactly do you think are on the front lines fighting for us?

Wow, really? I fail to see why these Explorers wanting to get experience and training for a possible future career (fire fighting/EMT/police/etc.) makes them "fascist."

There are explorer programs for all branches of public service even the Civil Air Patrol is a type of explorer program. You are way off base on this one.

So long as it's the agencies training them and not Obama, there is nothing to worry about.

Isn't there a law that states military recruiters can not talk to kids under a certain age? Seems to me there might be a reason for that law. Majority of the police I talk to anymore have serious control issues. I think alot of it might be training and preping them like this. It is important to teach our police officers to protect themselves from the unbearable. However it is equally as important to teach them how to help an old lady change her tire. This whole concept that the population is so bad and out of control we need navy seals (swat) patrolling our streets I disagree.
