Another thing:
I'm not disappointed in either Mr Flaherty or Ms Sykes. They are both public citizens who make their living through the media. My ONLY beef is with the reaction of President Obama who laughed at Ms Sykes comment towards Mr Limbaugh and other jokes that weren't pointed at him. It's okay to laugh at yourself. It's okay for the President to have a sense of humor, but to applaud harm falling on a citizen of the country the President is sworn by oath to defend and protect is not appropriate in my mind. Had the WH Correspondent's Dinner been a roast of the President and the President laughed, okay. But that's just not the case. He laughed at the wished upon misfortune of a private citizen. There's a line there. Perhaps I'm enfluenced by my dislike of Obama as a person? I hope I'm objective enough that I can comprehend the difference in appropriateness and foolheardiness. The difference I see in the two jokes is that one was about an elected official and the other about a private citizen (regardless of how he makes a living) and the reaction of the President who didn't recognize the inappropriatness of the comments. |

The left makes all sorts of violent and distasteful jokes and comments and they never apologize. There are so many...I don't think we can list them here.
This joke? Who cares...he should not have apologized. Whats good enough for them ought to be good enough for us...right? What happened to the First Ammendment? It protects speech you do and do not like, you know! - Brickboy240

I agree, but tell that to the leftists that said all sorts of hateful things about those on the right. Spike Lee once said he wanted to see Charleton Heston shot....nice comment. Didn't notice too many on the left saying how "outrageous" that comment was.
The left wants to be able to say whatever they want and beat down anyone that mocks THEM or their supporters. Sorry, but the First Ammendment does not work that way. Maybe nobody should make such inflamatory jokes, bu if the left is going to continue...why should those on the right sit in the corner and take it? Give me a break... - brickboy240
