Yes, "Oh Brother, Where art Thou?" was a great film. Like most films by the Coen Brothers, like "The Hudsucker Proxy", "Raising Arizona" and "Fargo."

Brilliant film-making. I'd love to see more of this type of stuff and less of gay cowboys, trans-genders, phony ice-ages and other running socio-political commentaries, masquerading as entertainment.

The true art of creative film-making is damn near dead!

BD....why can't you just accept the fact that Congress as a whole is corrupt? I don't believe one side is worse than the other. Both sides have the intellect and honor of Amoebas.
I do accept that fact and I think someone needs to do something about it. Are you satisfied to let it go on?

I think the party who claims to be Conservative Christian Family Values Bring Integrity back to the Whitehouse needs to do something about it because they hold the reigns right now.

bd
bd, you are obviously NOT concerned about political corruption.

You are obviously only concerned about discrediting all Republicans in office and spreading Liberal extremist propaganda to help the Democrat Party drive to impeach President Bush for something.

Prove me wrong.

Tom
No, that's what I want you to believe.

That was an absolutely brilliant set of statements by Cloony. What a genius! But wait, Madonna - do you agree? What about Whoopie Goldberg? And Barbara the Big S?

You're a moron for even suggesting the crap that comes out of Hollywood is filled some type of mystical intelligence. They're a bunch of scum bags, hell bent on forcing their disgusting way of life and disgraceful opinions on the rest of us. I wish I knew why the entertained industry has become so plagued with these arses. What ever happened to the folks like Bob Hope, John Wayne,...? It's really sad.

While he was talking out his rear-end, did Clooney mention anything about a reasonable truce with Osama Bin Laden?

Clooney is just another attention seeking dingus.

You could take all of what Hollywood knows about politics, put it in a Ziploc bag, and still have room left over for your sandwich and chips.

I don't know why people take these court jesters seriously.

[Homer Simpson] Rock stars... is there anything they don't know?[/Homer Simpson]

Southpark parodied the same..

The cloud of smug over South Park develops, and begins to combine with that of San Francisco. In a series of scenes parodying the film The Perfect Storm, McFriendly then reveals that the cloud of smug from George Clooney's 78th Academy Awards acceptance speech — which claimed that Hollywood was "ahead of the curve" on social issues — will soon drift into the center of the "super cell" and create "the perfect storm of self-satisfaction", which would completely destroy San Francisco and South Park.

Clooney is a genius. That's how you use the media.

It's looking worse and worse for the Republicans in the upcoming elections.

The truth may come from odd sources at times, but it always comes out.

BD, I assume you're an XD owner and somewhat pro-gun (from your being on these forums), and I know that the Republicans are not all things to all people. But please realize that if you value your gun freedoms, the Democrats are not your friends.

I side with certain issues from both sides of the aisle, but I know that 2nd Amendment freedoms are most important to me, so I vote Republican, even though I might disagree with many stances they take on other issues.

This was the very first answer to a post of 1/16/2006

Errrr --- why bring this one back to life??

"And the Republicans keep control of Congress this time around too"

Well, NO -- it appears they didn't.

So -- again, what was the purpose of bringing back a thread that makes all the Repubs look like they were totally out of touch?

could they still be out of touch??

Clooney was right. Good old Jack, and Duke, and Safavian, and Bob Ney, all contributed to the defeat.

So did the conduct of the war. It's now 2007. Seems to me bd was on the money.

What does this have to do with bd's original post??

If we want to keep our gun rights -- let's fight for them.

To demonize all Democrats instead of working to convince them their future might be decided by pro-gun Democrats might be a way to get it done.

Take a look around -- men's hair seems to be getting longer. Women's fashions seem to be featuring shorter skirts -- very 60's looks -- people are turning against the war, young folks seem to be more concerned about their rights. Looks like we might all be forced to work with the Dems. -- esp if a Democratic President is elected in 2008.

Work with what you have, guys. If we end up losing our gun rights because of a hard and fast stand on ideology -- well, you'll have no one to blame but yourselves.
