Poor Joe can’t get a break. He passes along advice that’s not entirely bad, and he ends up being corrected:
Vice President Joe Biden said Thursday that he would not recommend taking any commercial flight or riding in a subway car “at this point” because swine flu virus can spread “in confined places.”
[...]
“I would tell members of my family – and I have – I wouldn’t go anywhere in confined places now,” Biden said on NBC’s “Today” show.. “It’s not that it’s going to Mexico. It’s [that] you’re in a confined aircraft. When one person sneezes, it goes all the way through the aircraft. That’s me. …
[...]
That contradicted more restrained advice from President Barack Obama and the federal government - and the last thing the White House wants to do right now is shut down the airline industry and big city subways out of mass panic.
“Swine flu”? Joe hasn’t gotten the memo yet.
Biden’s appearance prompted the White House to release a statement saying that Biden was only talking about planes going to and from Mexico, even though Biden made it clear that he wasn’t only talking about Mexico:
The White House quickly arranged for Biden to make this statement through a spokesperson.
“On the Today Show this morning the Vice President was asked what he would tell a family member who was considering air travel to Mexico this week. The advice he is giving family members is the same advice the Administration is giving to all Americans: that they should avoid unnecessary air travel to and from Mexico. If they are sick, they should avoid airplanes and other confined public spaces, such as subways. This is the advice the Vice President has given family members who are traveling by commercial airline this week. As the President said just last night, every American should take the same steps you would take to prevent any other flu: keep your hands washed; cover your mouth when you cough; stay home from work if you’re sick; and keep your children home from school if they’re sick.”
We can assume that Biden was also only referring to avoiding the subway system between the U.S. and Mexico.

I believe that Joe Biden is the epitome of this concept. Other than maybe Nanci Pelosi, I have never seen a better example of the Peter Principle than Biden!

I'd never heard of that either... makes sense though. Of course it does omit the likelihood that an incompetent person might get terminated (especially in this economy), but once a position is on your resume, it's easy to move laterally, sowing your incompetence everywhere.
It's pretty funny that they made a "Peter Principle" game... wonder what that was about?

Ever heard of a concept called "the Peter Principle?"...

You betcha! Quite a while ago.
I have worked under a number of living, breathing examples... for a period of time. How long depended on their ability to suck-up to those of even greater stature within the organizational structure. Eventually, they get found out, though. Eventually.

Government and many large corporations are chock-full of examples of the Peter Principle. Many DO get canned...but usually after they have done alot of damage and ran off many of the worker-bee types that actually turn the wheels, so to speak.
I have worked under many....one of the reasons I swore never to work in corporate America for a large corporation ever again. In fact, I left two large companies BECAUSE of these types. Usually MBAs that have been educated beyond their intelligence.
Frustrating types....people you want to just choke the living sh*t out of...LOL!

Going back to GaffeMaster B, I just watched a commentator decribe his comments about not getting on Airplanes and Subway cars as "Not just sticking his foot in his mouth but right out the back of his head".
Is it any wonder that we don't hear from him more often? Every time they take the muzzle off him he immediately bites the Administration.
Let the backpedaling begin!
