Actually, those politicians we vote for have many concerns in common. Strict constructionism, anti-abortion, anti-gun control, free market economics, anti affirmative action, and so on.

These are all things that are of concern to me, and so I vote for politicians who share similar concerns.
You and XD40Fun are two different people.

Peace,
D.

Ya, I was wrong. mgeoffriau is different than funnygun. mgeoffriau is capable of making his own post in his own words with thought accruing before the words are spoken/typed. Very big differences between the two.

Are you joking? Does the phrase 'Commander in Chief' mean anything to you? Bush alone made the decision to go to war in Iraq.

So? Those positions are consistent, as seperation of church and state was a guiding principle of the American Founders, many of whom (if not most) were Deists or Freethinkers, not christians. This is one reason why "God" is nowhere to be found in the American Constitution.

"In God We Trust" was not on American federal currency for the first 98 years of our nations history, by the way. It was first put on some coins during the civil war, many decades after all the founding fathers were dead. It didn't find it's way onto all US currency until 1938. Hardly the 'same era when we were founded'.

I'll bet you complain about 'under God' in the the Pledge of Allegiance being threatened, even though the original pledge made no mention of God for the first 62 years that it was recited by American school children. "Under God" was not added until 1952 after a lobbying campaign by the Knights of Columbus.

America was not a nation founded on Christian principles. It was a nation founded primarily by Freethinkers and hijacked by christian fundamentalists in more recent times. I'm sorry if our nation's real history doesn't suit your world view.

I'm no liberal, by the way. I'm just awake.

Yea, Bush ALONE made the decision....OK, sure he did...and I am awake..

And the only reason it bothers me about the God stuff in the National Anthem and the money, isnt because Im a Christian or super religeous at all.......its just because its part of the national history, not from the very beggining, just a part of it, and most people are just bitching about it to ***** about something.........it says "God", ANY God, not Jesus Christ, not Buddah, not Mohamed, not even L. Ron Hubbard.....it just says "God"....pick the one of your choice and if they are atheists, so be it, God can be your beer can......why change for the sake of change....

I wish people would focus their desire for "change" of getting rid of the welfare system instead of a line in the National Anthem........I spend a boatload of money to put the kids in Catholic school, not for the religion, but for the education, and a little religion wont kill them either. I am a Catholic, but Im not happy with the way the church operates, they own the most expensive real estate in Chicago (the loop) and have ba-zillions of dollars and still stick it in my rear end every chance they get, financially........Im not complaining too much about the changes proposed by the anti-god, seperation of church and state, just dont ***** to *****, ***** about something worthwhile.......

Which welfare system are you talking about? The one for the rich or the one for the poor?
