Pocket holster for XD 3"
Any recommendations?
I usualy wear cargo pants with big pockets, great for CCW. I'll add velcro to keep the pocket closed to peeking eyes. I would like to find a holster design that provides sweat protection, given what I have read here., as well as to keep the gun from flopping sideways. Desantis has a nice "sticky" holster for $25, but not for XD: they want an extra $25 to custom one. Perhaps they can inculude a sweat guard since it's custom. Haven't called yet because I'm wonderng about other options. Bring on those suggestions, please! Thanks, Charlie |

First welcome to the forum.
I have one of the Desantis for my Kel-Tec, and it works great, to bad they don't have one for the XDSC , I just picked a XD40SC up today to go with my XD40 Service Model. I have been using one of the cheep Uncle Mike's Pocket Holsters (about $10), and I safteypin it in the bottom of the pocket, so that it stays it the pocket, and at the top of the holster to hold it back next to my leg to stop it from printing. It works pretty good for a lot of the guns I carry, has been through the wash a few times, and hasn't hurt it a bit. So good luck in your quest for the perfect holster. |

We don't currently offer a pocket holster for the XD. For most, the XD is too much of a brick for pocket carry. That said, the 715-M could be used as a pocket holster is you want.

Thanks for the welcome & sgestions, foks.
The XD9mm seems to be the best choice for my needs, so the quesion is how to carry it in the hot SW. Normally I wear a tucked in shirt and cargo pants. I don't really want to change my dress, so pocket carry seemed the best solution. I had considered the Kel-Tec 9mm, and was sold on it until I tried the pull - very difficult to master, I feel. I have no opportunity to fire one.. For the 5 oz premium the XD9 seemed a better solution (it also looks a little more intimidating, meaning convincing, if it comes to that), for a 5oz premium. (Maybe I should get one of each ;-) Since I own neither gun yet (still mulling over the choice), have only handled in the store. The XD9 didn't seem too bad in the pocket (I always have lots of junk there); at the end of a day I don't know. Uncontestibly the Kel would be better to carry that way. Thanks for the suggestion, OS. The 715-M looks like a nice holster and would double for a IWB if needed. Is it ambi - otherwise don't see how it could work for behind-the-back? How would you retain it in the pocket for a 1-handed draw? Rust protection: leather has some residual salt in it? Could one treat the interior of the holster with something- like Snow Seal? 40SWXDSHOOTER: do you fnd your current pocket carry weapon a brick at the end of the day - I assume it's a XP model. I'll check out Uncle Mike's inexpensive solution if it excludes sweat. Thanks again for your comments. (By the way, I'm not really size 18!). Charlie |

Some times I forget it's even there, well not realy but the Kel-Tec is so light that it dosen't seem much diffrent then a set keys or a hand full of change in my pocket. My only regret with the Kel-Tec, is that I didn't by one two years ago. I would always rather carry a full size gun, but some times it's small, or nothing.
I was looking at a Dillon catalog and they list 3 Desantis pocket holsters like the one I have now, and the large size is for a Glock 26, so if the SC Glocks, and the SCXDs are about the same size that one might be big enough. |
