Ok, I see it, now sell it to me (http://www.pistol-gear.com/proddetai...rod=05PA&cat=8). It looks interesting. Niether of my XD40s recoil terribly hard, but any improvement would make for quicker follow-up shots. Have you tried it? Does it work? Does it work worth $60.00?

To everyone else: Isn't it nice to have a vendor you can actually trust the opinion of?

Thanks, MC

I did test it, extensively, in my Tactical 9mm . The recoil was much less. I asked some buddies to test it, to make sure that I was not imagining it. Knowing that this is an expensive mod, I wanted to make sure that it works. It does.

The best part is, you have a 60 DAY MONEY BACK SATISFACTION GUARANTEE , if you feel that it doesn't help with recoil. Sprinco suggests that you use it with your stock recoil spring. I tested it with a 16, 18, and 22, and it feed rounds perfectly each and everytime. I tested with both reloads (poofy) and production ammo.

When you install this setup, you will hear a creaking noise when you hand cycle the slide. This is normal, and is the sound of the two springs rubbing one another. No harm done, per Sprinco, and it does not affect the performance.

This is a good mod. We are due to receive our first batch, next week.

How much does it weigh? Is it heavier than the stock guide rod assembly, ie: is it IDPA legal????

The stock rod for the Tactical weighs 21.8 grams. This setup weighs 21.9 grams. I would say they weigh the same.

As for being legal, the weight is OK. I am not sure about the ruling, since it is a captive system, unlike the stock configuration. I will need to do some reading. Perhaps some of our resident IDPA scholars can help in the meantime.

Well, since I'm a dork, I just went and read the Appendices to the IDPA rulebook. As long as the weight is not greater than steel and/or the standard guide rod (depending on division), than it looks like it is a permissible modification. In fact, a captive spring system was not ever mentioned anywhere that I read.

There you go. After this weekend's WI State Match, I will start running with the system, full time. Thanks for looking it up!
