No. The XD is a center fire pistol. To shoot 22LR, you will need an entire top-end.

Range Report

Finally got to test out my new 40 to 9 conversion bbl.

Looks great! :

I picked up some semi-factory loads (cheap ammo loaded by someone else).

I quickly found out that the factory spring was too stiff to cycle the action reliably. I had a lot (probably 15 or 20 out of 50) Fail to Eject (FTE). Sometimes the empty would ge re-chambered and the striker would be cocked. Sometimes the empty would just jam the slide part way back.

I also tried a 22# DGR with the same FTE results.

When it did shoot, it was pretty sweet. Has noticeably less "snap" than the .40 (as is expeced with the 9mm)

It's hard to say if there were any feed problems because of the slide not cycling all the way, but first load was always smooth.

Are you using 9MM mags or 40 mags?

I forgot about that. They were the .40 mags. I stuffed 15 in at first, then tried with 10, and sometimes even less.

If they are factory-spec 40 mags, that may be the problem. Unless you modify the mags for 9mm rounds, the 9mm rounds will sit too high and interfere with feeding and extraction. A simple test is to find someone that can lend you a 9mm magazine.

Just got mine today, along with Don's Guide Rod and the 20lbs spring, and a 9mm mag...

Planning to head to the range tomorrow after work with WWB rounds... after reading about the factory spring being to stiff, should I be worried about the 20lbs spring I'm using with the DGR?? I do have a 9mm factory mag...

With factory ammo, you should be fine. The goal is to have your cases eject about out about 5 feet or so.

We are looking forward to your range report. A picture of a target with a ragged hole is always fun to look at.

Praise! And needing help now...

After the trip to the range, all I can say is WOW! The conversion barrel is a dream! I shot a whole heck of a lot better than I did with the stock .40 barrel...

That center group is the best I ever shot, all 16 in that center group. Shot 100 rnds through it without any failures. I did notice that when the cartridges were being ejected that quite a few were ejecting upward and just slightly right... is that due to the DGR with a 20# spring?

Now that I'm back from the range, I'm going to field strip and clean... but now, I've run into a problem. I cannot remove the slide from the frame. (I've field stripped dozens of times for practice and cleaning) I followed all the steps... but after pulling the trigger to release the slide from the frame, the slide only moves about an 1/8 to 1/4 inch and gets stuck. I've tried to "reset" the slide... pull it back, lock it open, flip the release lever back down, release the slide, rack it a couple times, and dry fire. Then attempt to field strip again, but the slide will still not come off the frame. What can I do??

EDIT: Nevermind, i searched and read a few posts... seems a little love tap from a rubber mallet fixed the issue... It seems that the DRG is the root of the problem... I put the stock spring assembly just for trial and the slide removes very easily... but once I put the DRG back in, when try to remove the slide again, it gets stuck and need another love tap... I've even made sure when putting in the DRG to make sure it is straight and centered.

Good to hear! In our testing, we found that using 40 mags is usually the reason for failures. If you are going to shot 9MM, get a couple of 9MM mags. It is much better than being frustrated.

As for the issue you noted about ejecting up and slightly right, that could be anything. For now, run your gun with your DGR and Factory Setup to see which give you the best performance.
