Need Help understanding on what a Match Grade barrel is.

I pretty much bought everything "production" legal for my IPSC XD gun as you can get, short of buying a Match barrel. I just have a few questions about Match grade barrels.

How much more accurate can a match grade barrel be over the one that comes with the gun? Even at 15yards, I'm grouping my shots in a 5inch circle (if I aim).

According to your site, match barrels need "Fitting" by a smith. I'm not sure what that means. Does the Smith have to remove meteral from the inner slide to make sure the barrel fits properly or remove materal from the acctual Barrel itself? Once I get a match barrel "fitted" will I be able to use the stock barrel still?

If I get a match barrel put in, Can I still use the cheap winchester ammo that i buy in bulk from walmart still? or do I have to use Match grade ammo?

Match barrels are just a tighter fit. You will still be able to use your stock barrel (he just fits the barrel to your gun, not vis versa).

If your shooting a group like that at distance im not sure a match barrel is really all that necessary. I have one in my 1911 but not in an xd.

any old ammo will do.

Accuracy is as much about the shooter than the barrel. That said, our testing has shown that at 15 yards, we are able to hold a group much tighter than your 5 inches. Our testing shows that we are able to shoot a group that is half the size of the factory barrel.

As for fitting, you need to fit the hood and locking area, plus cut the barrel length and crown. I would suggest you speak with Canyon Creek Custom - Firearms for the Sportsman or Welcome to Springer Precision, as they have both fitted several of our barrels for customers.
