One-stop PG barrel + fitting + threading?
I am looking at getting a Pistol Gear barrel for my Springfield XD .45 Service, threaded to host an SWR HEMS II Suppressor. Is there a one-stop-shopping solution to this? That is, is there a smith that is a distributor of Pistol Gear Match Tactical barrels who could fit that barrel to my firearm as well as cut it down and thread it to .578x28 pitch?
My other alternative would be to buy a drop-in barrel in tactical length and have a smith I trust cut it down and thread it. If I could find someone to fit a Match barrel and thread it all at once that would be even better though. All thoughts appreciated. |

There are a few on XDTalk who have done what you want. Both Scott Springer (www.springerprecision.com) and Rich Dettelhouser (www.canyoncreekcustom.com) have the skills and tools to do what you want to do.
I would go with the Match barrel, since it needs to be cut and crowned any how. You may as well get the most accuracy possible. Since you have the thread requirements, you need only send the gun, your new barrel and the can to either of these guys in order to have the pieces put together. Sounds like a fun project! OS

My XD is actually with Mr. Springer right now for sights and trigger work so I may be giving him some repeat business.
Thanks for the the help. I loved my SWR HEMS II on my HK USPc .45 but with the XD being my new favorite it's only fair to set it up as a new host. |

hmm this is a good thread for me to find. Im about to submit some form 4's to the atf next week for a 45 can. I need to get a barrel and have it threaded for my 45c. A one stop shop would be nice. I assume the pistolgear tactical barrels will work for this project. I dont want to order from EFK.
Ill keep this in mind.
