PistolGear Magwell for XD (First Pic Added, Post #30)

Now that we are inching closer to the release of our XD Magwell, I feel comfortable sharing the exciting news with our friends of XDTalk. What we have done is considered all of the options and customer feedback for the benefit of a great product that will help all XD owners, not just the "gamers".

For starters, we will have two models: An IDPA legal option (the Operator) and a USPSA version (the UnLimited). Both models will be available for both the small frame XD (9/40 platform) and the large frame (the current 45ACP platform). For the benefit of LEOs, we are looking to add an optional lanyard ring to the Operator model, if there is interest. This would allow those on TACT Teams to better secure their pistols during operations.

Now, one of the major design elements of our magwell design is that we want you to use the extensions or basepads that are best for you and your budget; not a proprietary basepad that we sell. The ideas is that you can use the extensions by Arredondo or AGP Arms, or even the stock base pads if you like. We will most likely offer a solid extended pads for the benefit of those shooting IDPA and L10, shortly after the release of the magwell themselves. Again, the option is yours.

Finally, for those are going to ask, we have not finalized the price, nor do we have a solid release date. We have a few more steps to go before we go to production, but we are getting close. Such a process takes time.

I would like to thank all of those who are interested and we appreciate your support (and prayers) while we launch our second PistolGear branded product. Once we are ready to do so, we will post up some picture, hopefully by the end of February!

Kind Regards,
Team PistolGear

First of all Awesome!! I'm pumped and can't wait for this product! First question though, I assume this guy will be offered up like the old NHO magwell? As in Stainless Steel or Aluminum and color Black or stainless. Either way I can't wait! Put me on the list!

We are going to released them in Aluminum-Black first. If we get enough requests for SS, we can then look at them.

Excellent Idea, since I have the NHO magwell and cant use it! Because, here in Cali -if I add extensions to my mags they become "High-Cap" and I become a terrorist.

Are we going to see a magwell that doesn't bell out real wide like on competition guns, like something you'd see on a basic 1911 for simply easing the reloading process?

Something like this:

As opposed to this:

The Operator model will have less of a bell but it will still be more than a 1911 version. The bell is good for two reasons. One, it acts like a funnel making reloads easier. Two, it acts like a hilt, forcing your hand up high on the gun. The higher the grip, the better control you have.

A good trick is to take the NHO extension and fill them with lead. Just enough lead to reduce the chance of adding an extra round. Or, you can sell the NHO Magwell to someone that lives is a less-restrictive area. Or, you can purchase the Barsto extensions and machine them so the will fit the NHO magwell. You have a few options.
