I believe he is referring to the Grip Saftey. When you use the sleeve grips, you will need to cut a rounded-notch in order to clear the saftey unless you want to pin down the saftey for good (not a good idea).

I used Pachmyers and they fit just find without trimming around the grip safety. Only problem now is I need two more sets...
