Without going into too much detail they are heat treated to RC 35 (+/-) and CNC'ed from 1013 billet in one piece. The stock part is a two piece stamping made from low carbon steel (the factory isn't saying from what grade) with a heat treat in the same general area. Keep in mind the durability problems with the stock piece result from having the trigger pin pressed in. I would be happy to make them out of just about any material you like, just keep in mind that nothing stronger is needed, and the price would go up (depending on the material it would go up a lot). Please realize price is a function not only of material costs but also machine time and harder materials require slower machine times which translate into higher unit costs.
Except in the area of where the bar picks up and releases the striker block lever there is almost no surface wear at all. If you need to remove any material during fitting it is not in an area where there is any measureable surface friction. In the two places where there is contact friction at all (bar to striker block lever and bar to plastic frame) the trigger bar is much stronger even in it's unheat treated state. While anything can be broken, you are going to have to try really hard to break these trigger bars. If you break an unmodified one (except in the area of the two fitting pads) I will replace it for free as long as you own it. That warranty applies to all of the parts I make. Send me the broken one and I will send you a new one................

Sounds reasonable to me. Thank you for the quick answer. I heard about this over on calguns and might have to meet you out in Norco one of these days.

I will be a Prado Shooting Park in Chino all day this Saturday. I am going to shoot their IDPA match and then run a small shooting clinic afterwards. Please feel free to drop by. I will have at least one demo gun with me, and some parts if you want to take a look at them.

For what it is worth...
IM Metal did make some of the bars out of cast and milled at one time that is not near the quality that is being used in these. If you have a trigger bar that has a closed hook that bar is not stamped. I have yet to see one of those break, and I can't say the same for the the stamped and pined versions they use in most of them... |
