My holster won't clip

I purchased the Hume concealment holster 711 and it arrived today saying it fits the XD .40, i selected Service for my .45 thinking it would fit, but i cannot get the thumb break to clip. Do I just need to really work the leather with some oil??Everything else fits fine, but it needs maybe a 1/8 of an inch to be able to clip.

The .45 XD is slightly larger than the .40...... So you will need to work the leather a little to get a good fit. If you can, get it all tucked in and snapped up, and leave it overnight or better yet for a couple days. If still too tight, try putting the XD in a couple sandwich bags, or sock; then put it into the holster and snap it up.

Some neetsfoot oil may help also.

Thanks for the tip, I got the XD nice and tight and after stretching and working the slide strap back and forth a bunch of times, I was able to get the thumb break to finally snap in, and I just put it back in my safe and like you said, figured I'd leave it a few days. If that don't work, i guess i'll try some oil. I just wanted to make sure I didn't need to send this holster back. But thank you again for the help.

Once snapped into place, leave it sit and it will stretch as required.

Just a quick note...

Make sure your XD is oiled well before you leave it in there to long. Yes, I know it has the Melonite finish that is less prone to rust, but every gun can rust.

Leather has a tendancy to suck in and retain moisture (sp?) very easily.

Matt

I take my good care of mine, especially when it comes to oiling, but thank you again for the tip!

Just pulled the gun outta the holster for the first time since last night, now it fits like a glove, pulls in and out real easy and the thumb break clicks with ease. I carried it on my hip all day and never noticed it, I love this holster, not only does it work great but its sure looks nice too. Thank you PistolGear!

Excellent news. Remember, being that leather is a natural material, it is be affected by the environment (heat, moisture, etc.).
