Denied Purchase???

I have an American Express, it's my only credit card and I keep being told that your company does not except this type of card. American Express is supposed to be accepted everywhere, so why can't i shop on your site with it?

I'm sorry, there was a problem with your transaction.
Transaction Result: (17) The merchant does not accept this type of credit card.

A lot of places don't accept AE because the fees are higher.

AMEX charges vendors for the 'priviledge' of their customers using AMEX, so many small vendors tell AMEX to take a long walk of a short pier.

That is how I also have a Visa and MC (debit cards) for those places that don't put up with AMEX.

I carry my XD45 ACP Tactical, in a SuperTuck from CB. Very comfortable, easy to hide, easy to draw, and easy to reholster.

Looking for an HDR*, either an AR-180B, or Kel-Tec FBR.

I was refering to where it said that American Express is accepted everywhere.

A lot of retailers and vendors don't accept some credit cards. For what ever reason, I don't know.

Do you have a checking account that you can get a debit card tied to? Most of those are either Visa or MasterCard.

American Express as Discover are definitely not accepted everywhere.
It is up to each merchant. I have taken MC/Visa and Debits for almost 15 years at my company....but I still do not take AMEX or DISC.
The reason is the that AMEX and DISC won't get with the program...They have extreme fees to the merchants to take them..
Typical credit cards are no more than a hair over 3% on a very bad merchant set up.
Amex changes their mind all the time but at one offer it was 30.00 a month just to take them PLUS percentages or each purchase.
Disc was a 75.00 set up fee.
Set up for what? SO I can do your customers a favor by takin your card....
Something is ass-backwards here.
I will admit it does suck to not take Amex...many "professional" and corporate customers use only it....but probably 90% plus people that have an Amex have other cards....
it is not like they give it to borderline credit risks....so usually it is not the first or only card a person has.

AMEX may boldly state they are accepted everywhere, but reality is they want too much of the cut and some businesses are not willing to give away any more of their profit. Can't blame them.

My company is dumping AMEX as their company credit cards because of traveling reps complaining that they went places that frequently go to places where they cannot use it, and do not want to get stuck paying out of their pocket for a company expense.
