tru glow problem

i bought a set of truglow sights http://pistolgear.com/proddetail.php?prod=11TRA a few months back and the front pipe is loose and keeps trying to pop out and the right side of the rear sight looks like its cracked. is there a way to get these replaced or fixed or exchanged for a different kind all together? and if there is no exchange possible can i get different colored pipes for them?

The only times I have seen the problems you described they were attributable to poor installation or shooter error. For example, IMO TruGlos should only be installed by gunsmiths. Everyone I know who has tried it themself has screwed it up. As to cracking of the site itself in my experience it was always caused by the shooter banging the sight into a hard object...usually the front sight hitting part of Bianchi barricade due to muzzle flip. If none of these scenarios apply to you then I'm at a loss to understand the cause of your problem.

Once a tritium vial is damaged it cannot be repaired. It must be replaced. Have you taken this up with Pistol Gear? They are good people, but given what you have described I not optimistic that they can do anything for you. It doesn't sound like they are liable. Good luck!

i don't have the TFOs i just have the regular ones(no tritium) and i never hit a barricade. sight were installed by Steve at Alaska tactical supply. I've put a lot of rounds down range since the sights went on I'm going to attribute it to poor quality product lesson learned i guess.

I believe what was bought was the
TRUGLO Fiber Optic Sights for XD
without the tritium.

Yes the fiber can be replaced in the
sights. I have never done it on any of
mine as I have not needed to do so.

There was a thread here on forum which
discussed the matter and even gave a
URL that one could buy the fiber optic,
which if I recall was over a foot in length,
for a reasonable cost. This of course gave
the shooter many an option.

I do agree with slugger6 about operator
error. Hard to justify replacement under
warranty.

We will do what we can to help you. Everyone who can help us from TRUGLO is at the SHOT SHOW this week and won't return until Tuesday. I will send them an e-mail today.

Can you take a picture of the problem? Pics are always helpful.

I lost the front fiber off mine.
I know for a fact that everything was fine in the first stage of the match. Then, on stage two, I couldn't pick up the front sight. After the stage, I looked carefully and discovered the front pipe gone.

I called TruGlo and they had me send the slide to them. They fixed it and sent it back, no charge. Total time: 10 days including shipping it to them Priority Mail.

Subscribe. Mine are new and thus I don't have this problem, but this might come in use if I do have a problem one day.

Do y'all recemend these sights for a self defense weapon or LE weapon? I belive weapons should be sturdy, and be able to take some pounding. Or are these sights more of a race gun thing?

Enjoying my XD .45ACP Tactical. need to break in my 870, and my wife's XDSC9.

I carry my XD45 ACP Tactical, in a SuperTuck from CB. Very comfortable, easy to hide, easy to draw, and easy to reholster.

Looking for an HDR*, either an AR-180B, or Kel-Tec FBR.

HDR, Homeland Defense Rifle

They are an decent pair of fiber optic sights, able to hold up to nearly any and all abuse.
