Request: Bersa Thunder .380/XD9SC

Weird request perhaps but I was looking for comparision photos. The XD9SC is what I carry everyday but want something "smaller/lighter" to carry during the summer. I checked out the specs but pictures make it easier to see the real differences.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks in advanced

Hope this helps.....here's some of "The Family":

Beretta 92FS
XD9sc
Bersa T380
Ruger Single Six

Size wise the pictures can distort, but the last one is pretty close for size accuracy. The XD is alot thicker and "beefy'r" & heavier than the Bersa but both are about the same length.
I've used the wife's T380 at times in the summer w/a Dessanti pocket holster for the same reason - easier to conceal.

I prefer the XD, but the BERSA works too.

I own both and they are very close in size. The Bersa is quite a bit thinner and lighter.

I would recommend a Kahr over a Bersa any day. They are thin, light, reliable, accurate as hell, have a great trigger and light recoil, plus have the significant advantage of shooting 9mm. I traded my Bersa for a P9 Covert and never looked back. It was a HUGE upgrade.

Having carried my new Bersa today, it's a pretty easy carry. Lighter and thinner then the XD9. I'm going to reserve the 9 for winter carry, and the Bersa for summer. It barely prints at all, no matter what I'm wearing.

Thanks to everyone who responded and thanks a bunch for the pictures.

I've heard a lot of good things about the Kahr but I will hold off on that until I get a bit more money.

Joeywhat: That is exactly what I am thinking about; keeping the XD9SC for winter and getting a Bersa for summer. Glad to hear that it barely prints and its an easier carry. If you have any other comments about carrying the Bersa, please post them. I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks again to all.

I've carried the Bersa for a total of almost 4 years. I now carry my recently purchase XD sc. In my opinion, it is not worth it to go to the smaller caliber. I don't think the size differense is enough to warrant it. The widest point on the Bersa is almost as wide as the Xd. You lose a couple rounds, and a lot of potency, and the beavertail on the Bersa can sometimes be uncomfortable. That said, I loved my little Bersa, it was my first carry gun and will always be special to me. Sniff. Sniff. But seriously, between myself, and two brothers we have owned four bersa .380's. Mine was the first one bought, and never had a problem for a long time, but now, it will only fire one brand and type of ammo without jamming (ftf), and the slide stop is wore out. It was great and problem free for 3 heavily used years. One brother bought the deluxe model, and had to immediately send it back for a new slide, and has now been problem free for about 3 lightly used years. Another brother bought a blued model and out of the box, every round fired the slide locks back. He has not sent it back to Bersa yet for warranty. I later bought a cc model to try, and it would jam (ftf) on all different ammo types. So if my math is correct 75% of the Bersa .380's we purchased had a problem out of the box, and eventually 100% have had problems in the long run. Do not get me wrong, I loved my Bersa and it was very accurate and reliable for a while anyways. So for the $195 I origanally spent, It was a hell of a deal. If they were still that price, I'd try another.

My first carry was an FEG 380 (about the same size as the Bersa) and then I got my XD SC. Like it was said before, they are amost the same size at the widest point, I find the XD just as easy to carry. The extra rounds pluss the larger round and the increased reliabuility makes the desition easier.
