my grandfather fought in korea and passed away from cancer in january. i flew home on emergency leave. his funeral was a military funeral and i cried behind my sunglasses standing at parade rest as they handed the flag to my grandmother...

seeing that picture made it all come back.........

I was on I&I Duty in the Marines and this was my least favorite part of the job.

I remember I did a burial in Abilene, Texas where the mother and the father were screaming at each other over the marine's insurance money while the detail was folding the flag.

I have never felt the feelings that I felt that day since.

That is an award winning picture right there. Poor guy

That one touched EricCartmann right where it hurts (internal not external).

The pic of the young woman, with full-length dress, face-down on her recently-killed husband's grave really got to me. I wholeheartedly support the efforts of our military; however, I don't believe there's any connection with the sacrifices those guys are making in Iraq with maintaining our way of life.

Iraq will prove to have been exactly as bumfuddling and worthless as was Vietnam. Hopefully, we won't piss away another 55,000 lives before something is done to get our young people out of that quagmire of uncivilized tribal savages. If the Prez decided to get involved in any of the tribal quagmires in Africa, do you really think that the inevitable deaths of American military personnel would make a tinker's damn about maintaining our way of life?

If they want to do something to "maintain our way of life," they ought to take over Saudi Arabia and commandeer the Saudis' oil fields. That'd be a good start!
