My first XD 40!

Well, I picked her up last week and went out twice to shoot since. I love this gun! It's the first pistol I've personally owned and I think I made a great choice.

And a target from one of the days. From 25 yards outdoors...I'm not TOO embarassed by this. My first shot to ever come from the gun was actually a bullseye and I thought I was the man(different target). Unfortunately that didn't last, but it was a hell of a start!

Congrats on the new gun!

As the instructor for my basic handgun class said, "You can only go down hill from the first shot"

But keep practicing, I know I have improved so much in the couple months since I got my XD!

lol My first time shooting I set up a soup can at 25 yards and 50 shots later I had a total of 3 hits on the can. lol...

The gun looks HOT! I love the look of the 5", Just keep shooting.

+1 on the keep shooting.
take a pistol shooter with you to the range and he can give you pointers. You have some good shots, but you've got some out there, too, so just keep practicing. One thing that helped my shooting was learning to keep my eyes open and know where the sights were when the gun went off. When I started being able to "call my shots" I was able to improve because I could tell what I was doing wrong when I had a bad shot. Take your time, relax, squeeeeeze the trigger, and have fun!

Congrats on the new XD!

Next time you go to the range, start out at 3yds, then 5, then 10, etc. It's a great confidence builder & you can see where it's hitting and how to aim.
