The reason: you carry your XD40 service as primary weapon, the SC as backup so you don't have to carry different calibers and the mags from one can be used in the other (the service mag would stick out the bottom, but at least you can still sling lead at the BG).
Oops, looks like you have to go get another service... sorry. joe

I tried to carry the service at first, it just didn't seem to fit right. Originally I was going to swap it with the XD Compact, I ended up getting impatient and just getting the 40SC, then the tatical for home or camping. I would have never touched the service again, the sc seems to do just fine.
Oh, I wouldn't mind getting a different gun in a .40, I just didnt want the same one just a bit bigger. This was 50 rounds at 7 yards. (My first attempt with the SC)

I did the same thing. I got my 9 service in febuary, and just 2 weeks ago I got my XD-40 sc. I did it cause I am too small framed to hid the service well, but I still want a full size frame to shoot competition stuff.
If you can afford it, then your just enjoying a hobby....addiction is when your spending excededs your means.

The Tactical was just too big for me. Didn't like it. The service is just right. Yes, addicted. I want another XD but have a few things first I have to save up for. Nice shooting, btw.
