Hey everyone, I just wanted to share some pictures of my new puppy. She's a German Shepherd mix about 3 months old. Enjoy.

The leather on that couch is never to be touched by that dog lol. I let my other dog, Scarlett, (german shep/doberman) post up on the couch, and she helps guard it from the pup. I will be devoting a great deal of time to training the pup to play ONLY with her toys. Scarlett (also adopted) is very good at only playing with her toys and I hope I can train Nikola (the pup) to do the same. I'm having a hell of a time with house training though, Nikola will go outside most of the time, but the other half of the time she just goes on my carpet...which gets old, fast. We'll see how effective classical and operant conditioning can really be
take care everyone

Nice, we are looking at fostering an 11 month old Beagle with the option to adopt at 30 days. Should have it this week.

Honestly, I think the best way to train is Operant Conditioning. A simple google search will yield many results on dog training with operant conditioning. I study psychology and learned exactly how to use behavior modification with just about any animal. I even helped train my friends pet rat (which was actually supposed to be food for my snake a while back haha) to come when called from across the room. The trick is knowing what to reinforce and what to punish (IF you chose to use punishment). You can very easily train your dog to do something you don't want if you're not careful about what you praise or reward them for. You can even use it on your KIDS! haha seriously, google it, you wont be sorry.
