Spent the weekend shooting

and took some pics:

The wife takes to the 10/22. She loved it:

as did my daughter (5yo):

Started the boy with the Ruger Single Six, then moved him to the XD 40 Tactical:

He convinced me he could handle the Desert Eagle. So after a little instruction:

I caught him in recoil with brass in the air. (just left of the bush, on the horizon):

3 days in the Colorado high plains between Trinidad and Walsenburg. Lots of Antelope to be seen. Closed out Saturday night listening to the coyotes howl. That was awesome.

Nice pics and it looks like fun, but I have to say, without knowing exactly what's on the end of the 10/22 barrel, I'm surprised there isn't hearing protection being worn by you, the shirtless boy, your daughter, or your wife. Your son with the Desert Eagle is the only one who looks like he's wearing some.

That rifle is remarkably quiet. I was very aware of that fact. It was necessary with the pistols, but the 10/22 - not so much. We all plugged ears while he shot the bigger stuff.

Even the Single Six required the muffs. The report is very sharp. The rifle was just a snap.

That looks like you guys had a heck of a lot of fun. Where did you shoot? Were you guys camping? Man, I think I've been in Colorado shorter than you and you've already found a cool shooting spot!

Edit: just read "Colorado high plains between Trinidad and Walsenburg", very cool!

GREAT pics!!! It's always a joy when you & your family can enjoy at least one hobby together.

I love taking my boys out shooting. I have gotten some compliments from long time shooters on their manners at the range and their finger/muzzle control. Now, I just need to find a woman who will go out shooting with me.

It is property I (and My Dad) have owned for over 20 years. The closest person is almost 20 miles away - we measured once just so we would know. In the 23 years we have been going there, no exaggeration, we have never seen another soul out there.
