Duracoat anyone?

Long story short, I helped a buddy that has started playing with durocoat and working on a few guns last night and we started messing w/ my XD barrel.

Here is my XD barrel we painted last night. My personal opinion on this color is Freaking Awesome, I totally Love it. But please tell me what you think! I might start going duracoat crazy if this stuff is as hard as what they say. BTW: we used the Durocoat bake on stuff.

Has anybody else done any painting with this duracoat stuff???

I would also be interested on how the barrel holds up. I am trying to decide on either doing my slide myself, or sending it off to be done. It is the older finish, and it is just about gone is most places.

Can you run us through the process of what you did to apply and bake and what not? I love the duracoat guns and have considered painting my GF's pink =D

I am interested in the process and difficulty also. My dad was a professional painter for over 20 years in a factory, maybe I can get him to do some work for me.

That looks great, but I've kind of been turned off on DuraCoat after hearing that it's not as durable as the name would suggest. It does look really good though.

looks good OD isnt my thing though

one thing im concerned about is the bottom of the barrel where it locks to the frame by painting that you added a litlle but of thickness and im thinking it might not shoot exactly where it did before. since when you buy a drop in barrel you sand very small amounts off the area to "sight" the barrel in.
i dont know if its thick enough to make a difference.
when i polished my barrel i polished everything except for the bottom of the barrel
