Picked up a Colt Trooper Mk V....

Hey all. Hope ya dont mind... Picked up another pistol to add to my collection and wanted to show ya. Well...this makes two...so I dont know if you can call that a collection yet. hahaha.

I picked this Colt Trooper Mk V for a really good price. Ive been looking for a .357 revolver. I REALLY wanted a S&W Model 27, but the ones that Ive found that were in good shape were all really pricey. This one was priced good, and is in good shape. A tiny bit of holster wear on the front of the muzzle but otherwise seems lightly used.

Anyway...here are a few pics. Yes its still dirty. I literally just wiped it off to take a couple pics. I need to clean it up and what not. I havent taken it out yet, but I plan to this weekend. The action is SWEET on it. Trigger break is crisp, and quick. No idea what the pull weight is...but its light. Cant wait to test it out!!!

Great pick-up. Colt DA revolvers are starting to get scarce, try to find a good set of factory wood grips-- if affordable. Even if you don't want to use them they will enhance the value should you ever decide to sell.

Those arent the factory grips? I thought for the Mk V they started putting the "stubby" rubber grips on them.

Then again, info on these are pretty scarce. I cant find much as far as how to take them apart, part replacement, etc etc. Colt's website is kind of a pain.

Ill look into the grip thing though!! I never meant for it to be a collectable. Im gonna shoot the sucker! However, if down the road I want to sell it, I certainly want to get as much as I can for it.

J.

Edit: Ah...you might be right. Looks like the grip I have might just be a common replacement. I see them on the king cobras and pythons often. Ill look into it!

You can get original grip replacements,
at a premium however.

That one is older as evidenced by the
ctg. on the barrel.

Good score.

Yeah I found some wooden grips...but they were going for over 70 bucks before shipping!! Yikes!

I havent had much time or luck finding info/history on the pistol. What does ctg. mean??? Does it simply mean cartridge?

So Flo: Yeah I gotta clean it up. I need to get into those ribs and crevices. As for price.... I paid around $325 for it after tax. That doesnt include the small fees that you get charged during purchase. Ive seen them go for more than this, and honestly, it was next to the S&W on my list of desired .357 revolvers, so I would have paid more.
