you can do it yourself.i havent done it yet, i been scared of mucking up.My bro swears if you mix it right and use correct air pressure its easy.
I did my slide because it was getting some of the finish rubbed off from carrying it frequently;there fore it rusted easy.if it wears off now all i have to do is touch it up.and no more rust!

Nice job, looks unique.

No heat required just takes a couple of weeks to fully cure.

Canyon Creek doesn't do Duracoat. They use KG Gun-Kote which, I believe, is a baked on finish.

Duracoat doesn't work good on barrels, I tried. It's just thick enough to cause the the barrel not to lock up into the slide when the slide is forward. Plus it wears off fairly quick...it does look nice when it's done though...Here's mine...I completely disassembled and look the sights off....

Does it wear off easily?

I would not say EASILY, but holsters that get sand/dirt/grit trapped in them will cause the color to scratch or wear off. If it's not mixed, applied or cured correctly, you can find chipping or cracking. However, if it's done correclty, it's pretty dang durable.

I prefer a bake on finish any day of the week. However, you can't bake the polymer parts of the pistol (duracoat is great for polymers). But if it's metal, you want a bake on cure like KG GunKote or Moly Resin

Every one of these I do for customers, I do everything in my power to go for a bake on finish for metal, (and they have all turned out superb)

Absolutely not, it's as light as air.
