Gotta say that I love Joe Rocket gear. I'm a little biased since I've personally crash-tested their Phoenix Jacket and Pants. The held up with minor scuffs and few really small tears after a thirty foot slide across an off-ramp. Granted, it was raining so the rain wet pavement probably helped the slide more than dry pavement would have. Even so, it kept my skin where it's supposed to be when I laid the bike down at 25-30 or so MPH.
Note: Water, oil, and a curving off-ramp are not a good mix when you've only got two wheels.
If you want to read my rambling account, you can find it here.
Edited to Add: I'm glad to see that you're buying proper gear. ATGATT is a good policy to follow. I rather like the versatility of textile jackets (my jacket and pants are mesh), but leather will protect you better. If you go with the textile jacket, make sure that you're getting 600 count fabric at the least.

I've never tested or even worn their gear but I like alot of their stuff. Thank you for the reminder to always wear the gear man. Good to hear you came away with only scratches. I heard of a rider lowsiding and tearing his knee up worst then I did.

Right on - I always purchase my bikes based upon the color jacket I have
I miss the Saaki Rockey!!! Rice is a diet best consumed at 150+ mph...

originally a honda cm400t it has been stretched 10" in the rear no suspension (hard tail), yamaha 650 gas tank w/ honda gas cap, original front fender, rear fender is a widened yamaha front fender, the seat was made in house using chevy valve srings for suspension and it took approx. 13 hours in the paint booth to paint. currently working on '83 gpz 550 streched 6" in the rear, extra rake, custom front & rear suspension, one off gas tank, in total i think it will be about a foot longer than this one and twice as fast oh the "gauge" is the tac cause i tend to shift at about 12000 rpm (10000 rpm normal) without it
