Cleaning my XD-40 (large pics for the heck of it)
My XD was due for a good cleaning so I busted out the cleaning kit today. I took some pics for the hell of it.
Pre-cleaning  The inside of the slide after one cleaning  Same...  Cleaning outside of slide  Cleaned slide  Freshly cleaned barrel and ramp  Inside of cleaned barrel (the rifling kind of looks like the beginning of the James Bond movies)  Spotlessly clean inside of slide  A clean XD-40  Top view  Slide lock  Close-up before the final wipe-down  Holstered in my Don Hume 715-M IWB from www.pistolgear.com (a cheap, but effective rig)  One last close-up of a freshly cleaned XD-40  I've never posted pics on this site so I figured I'd give it a try. My XD is totally stock, so the pics are probably pretty boring. Since I was cleaning it I figured I'd snap some pics. I should have taken some pre-cleaning pics, but I didn't think of it until I was halfway through. Frank

I like it. Nice pictures. At least I'm not the only one anal enough to use a q-tip to clean my slide.

I try to clean it after every trip to the range, but I slacked this time and waited like 3 months after shooting it last. The main reason for the cleaning was because I CCW about 98% of the time and I was getting a lot of dust and lint build up around the striker indicator, trigger, inside of barrel..etc...all those places where dust can hide. Your slide looks assembly line clean there Frank.
I too use q-tips. They clean the tight spots great.

Ah gotcha. My BiTone (which is needing a trip back to SA) is very dirty. About 1500 rounds through it. If I could open it, I would clean it.
