Any updates on *when* in 2008? I'm planning to get a xd45 soon, but I can already see how ammunition costs are going to eat me alive. I've got a P22, it's cheap (and fun) to shoot - but I'd prefer something to convert the xd45 so I could at least get practice with the actual gun I'll be using. Even though the recoil/etc will feel different, at least I'll get used to handling the gun.

I sent over an email last week on Thurs, and I got this back on Fri:
We've been so busy working on Glock and 1911 kits that we haven't had any time to work on the XD. So far we just have a prototype with no estimate as to when they will be available to purchase. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Regards, Advantage Arms So guess its still gona be a while. X |

Yeah, really sucks! I want one so bad!
I sent them a follow up email to see what would be needed to bring this product to market, ie more employees, development time, investors or what, but they have not responded yet, and I don't think they will. I'd love to bring this product to market, but I don't even know where to start to do something like this! Come on 3rd party vendor! X |

I hate to be the guy who jumps into a thread and takes it a whole 'nother way, so I'm gonna do it politely.
I'm gonna do it politely by asking, since you can get a Buckmark or a 22/45 for roughly the cost of a conversion, why would you not just get a Buckmark or a 22/45? Is it just to practice shooting with the gun you use for defense more cheaply? That makes sense. And I know "just because I can" is the best answer for this, trust me. But, if you're one of the guys who says "I don't have a .22LR pistol, looks like I'm about to!", why would you not want one up until now and want one now? |

I only ask about how to get it made because I see a great nitch market opportunity. I'm sure these other guys will bring product to market soon, but I've got investors looking for something to invest in. but like I said, I'm no expert in this area. Best, X |

Yeah, I think that you will find most guys want the conversion so that they can put some serious range time in with their defense gun. You are talking about the same grip and the same trigger. I do agree that if you are just looking to get a .22 just to have one, just go for a Buckmark or 22/45. (Preferable a 22/45 IMO.)

I'll get the XD .22 conversion to have the same mag release, the same slide release, same trigger, size, feel, operation as my main guns (XD 9 and XD40) |
