I'll bet this will never happen, and even if it did, would it be worth it? They would probably have to replace the entire slide along with the barrel. If current 9mm barrels are $150, I can imagine a .22 kit being $200-250 including the slide, barrel and magazine.

Why not just buy something like a P22 and be done with it?

22 Cal. XD conversion kit

I would like to weigh in with yet another view concerning the possibility of a SA XD conversion kit. If, as one member has suggested, the "break-even" point would require the sale of roughly 500 units then consider that on this subject, within this forum, there have been approximately 130 replies and nearly 29,000 views of the .22 conversion kit question. The interest is there, I myself would be among the first in line for one, maybe even two as my wife is a fan of the XD.

I suppose for the same money I might purchase a seperate .22 pistol, indeed I own several, but the allure of shooting such a pleasent round through such an elegent weapon as the XD is irresistable. In fact, should the engineering department of the unnamed company apply their collective genius and produce a +20 round magazine then the desire to purchase one becomes a near obsession. The "Fun Factor" plinking with a .22 pistol is, in my opinion, directly propotional to the number of rounds in the magazine. The Ciener conversions hold 15 rounds if I recall. Surely the XD magazine well would lend itself to +20 rounds or better.

Hopefully, there exists plans to meet the expectations of so many loyal XD fans and not in the far distant future but sooner rather than later.

OK - I'm going to be the butt-head and revive the thread again - just to get a final answer - rather than start a new thread.

No one has a 22 XD conversion kit on the market, right?
And there isn't one on the market, right?

If so, I guess I need to go buy a 22. Damn. Another gun.

I'd go more for the Sig Mosquito. It's about the same price too.

+1 on the Mosquito. The P22 feels like a toy in my hand. The Mosquito feels just like what it is; a P226 built around the .22LR cartridge.
