I think it is safe to say that Advantage Arms if probably having some financial issues of some kind. If you are a firearms company I can't imagine not going to the SHOT show!!

In the past they answered emails in a timely manner. someone should try calling them to see if they are just blowing smoke or if they are really planning on releasing a XD conversion. I wonder how hard it is to make a conversion from scratch? I suppose once you have one designed you could have the part CNCed some where. I think it would be tricky to find a .22 mag that will work in the XD. I think I would try to design it to work with a Mag that is currently available.

I am telling you guys, just break down and get a 22/45. When...no, make that IF the XD conversion comes out you will be able to sell it and get the majority of your money back. Shooting .22 is really cheap and a TON of fun.

I have a Ruger Mark II .22 and they are terrific target pistols and relatively cheap to shoot. But it would be nice to have a conversion kit so I can continually work on my trigger pull etc with my 9SC.

Conversion kits are not rocket science, CZ successfully offers a quality conversion kit for their 75s. This would seem to be a no-brainer for SA. Hope it happens some time soon.

+1. The CZ Kadet kit costs around $300, fits on virtually any of the popular CZ models except the subcompacts, and is incredibly accurate. My conversion kit fit an SP01, a CZ75, a CZ85 Combat, and an SP01 Tactical. It fit them all flawlessly, and shoots sub-2" groups (better if rested) at 25 yards.

Don't see why it would be so hard to make one for the XD.

Personally, I just cannot get into large and heavy .22's. The Rugers are nice but only really good for range stuff; way too heavy to carry in the field all day, they weigh as much as a 1911!! I wish that someone out there made a much lighter .22 pistol that was still reliable and accurate (that rules out the Walther P22 and the Sig Mosquito). The CZ Kadet, either in the standalone .22 pistol, or the conversion slide to run an an existing CZ 75 or 85 or P01/P06, is the most moderate-sized, moderate-priced, accurate and reliable .22 pistol I know of.

Update on this conversion kit

I called the company and they told me that they will not be producing the conversion kit for the XD. They said that they have a prototype but it has been placed on the backburner so they can pool their resources on other projects.

Quite disappointing, but they did say they may resume the XD conversion project next year.
