funny story, I was in the local Target looking at the camping gear, mostly just wasting time (keeping the kids occupied) while the wife was shopping. I was standing there in front of the tents and a guy was stading there with his family and he asks me if I'm in the market for a nice tent. He explains that he's looking to sell since he just got a camper. To make a long story a bit shorter, I picked up a Kelty 8prsn tent for $75 (retail was around $350) no pics yet but I'll post them up as soon as I get some tie to pitch it in the backyard

Yeah thanks, we learned that cooking directly in the fire of Hades is too much! Lol!
That night when we realized despite all the previous nights being in the upper 40's that it would get down into the mid-20's then the 5 of us guys would share a 6-man tent rather than sleep in our own....I don't want to talk about it but we managed to stay warm.

It wasn't all that secluded of a place, we just picked the "secluded sites" from what was otherwise an RV-type campground. Cleanest bathrooms I've ever seen. Shower was actually hot. It was near the Silver Lake Dunes on the west side of the state.
I'll find the exact name for you, if you're interested.
EDIT: White River RV Park and Campground.
Site, Campground map. IIRC, we were at site 132 (with other family members in 130 and 131).

Sounds like you got a great deal! Post some pics when you get the chance.

Some pics from a very cold 3 day trip into Shenandoah National Park, I love that you can carry concealed or open in National Parks as long as you live in a free state like Virginia!
Jetboil stove and Black Diamond lantern, 2 excellent products that always come with me:
Misc gear to include my Beretta 92FS, I was testing my Blackhawk dropleg prior to deployment, very comfy:
Camp is set up:
From another angle:
And just in case! Lol!

I know there has to be some more members here who enjoy the outdoors. You guys don't sit around inside on the computer all day, do you?

Nice thread! For those with the tent hammocks, my wife bought me an ENO back in the spring and I've only tried sleeping in it once but I could not get my legs comfortable in it. I slept solid for the first couple hours, but woke up with my knees aching from being in a hyper-extended position. The rest of the night I spent trying to figure out ways to keep my knees bent so I could get some sleep.
Whats the trick here?
