For back country off, the beaten path with a group or snow, I take a Kifaru shelter, I now own 4 differnt options, the supertarp, paratipi, sawtooth, and a massive 8man tipi. For family camping where a floor is liked, I have a 7man springbar, but considering this tent weight 72-78 lbs depending on options... I choose not to carry it more than 20 feet. I also have a few other 2-6 mna backpack style tents, but those are for me and my daughter and the occasional friend when we go car camping since they are too small for mommy's liking.
You're doing it right.

Personally, I wouldn't want a tent much smaller with two adults. My son, who's 12, and I fit very nicely in the tent. I'm 5' 10" and 160 lbs. My son is pictured with the cook/kitchen ware.
Yeah I'm just looking into getting a decent 2 person tent that I can take car camping and stuff when I go alone. For backpacking I'll probably stick with a hammock or the Backcountry 1.

Picked up a Kelty Acadia 4. I got it to see if I can get my girlfriend into doing some car camping with me without spending too much.

Here are a few pics of it in my yard. I forgot to get a shot without the rain fly. I really like how it has a door and vestibule on two sides.

Anybody ever notice that actual sleeping capacity of a tent is exactly 50% of the claimed sleeping capacity?

Unless your in a orgy. I always divide by 2, sometimes 3 on the longer trips since you are bound to have your pack inside half emptied for days on end.

Obscura, I seen that one in Kirkhams when I bought mine, it is BIG but I can rarely find a spot for mine that actually sits decent. If your just in the general outdoors and not campgrounds its okay, but the little girl does not like leaning against a tree when doing her business. Nice photos by the way.

Thanks also Dhunley, I have to dig up some more photos of gear usage and post em up.

Lol yeah. You can usually sleep the claimed capacity but not comfortably. The 4 person tent I just bought will likely never have more than 2 people in it.

i do not really camp, I RV and ride my quad, or go to our families cabin, but I do not have any pictures of either of them. I need to take some time off and go have fun and get you all pics.
