Pickup with a black eye

Got up early this morning to go get ice cream cake and breakfast for coworkers. Extra 18 miles round trip. Out of the ditch and I had a reaction time of water boiling. Deer in my lane and his partner in other lane.. had time to touch the breaks.. but pointless. After I seen the deer do a sideways aeriel manuver into the dith I didnt even slow down or stop until the tranny started slippin. Shut the engine off and made a call and boss towed me into work.

No radiator damage. Just pushed it back abit. No contact with the fan.
Hood pops right open using the latch with no issues. Transmission aux cooler is toasted, airconditioner coil is fried (ac never worked, no biggie). No bumper damage., fender is pushed out just a bit. Only liability coverage so I think I can get replacement lights, cooler, signal and grill less then $350 from the grab and go salvage yard. Hook a chain up to the tin behind the lights and hook the tractor up to pull it back into place. No problem.

I say it was a darn good hit.

All the breakfast I was bringing back bounced off the dash... All contained and no mess. Had good eats this morning atleast. Yes it could have been worst and that deer could have came through the windshield.. Heck even a pheasant can kill ya.

looks like you got off lucky, all things considered. looks to be no or very little metal body damage. just get the headlight assembly and a grille right?

guess its time to step up to those aftermarket clear headlights right?! lol

sounds like the deer picked the wrong time to practice what he learned from the stand your ground law controversy.

The metal structor behind the light got pushed in pretty good. Thats no problem on my end. I can pull that out with the tractor easily. No fancy aftermarket stuff. Oem used replacements and get it cheap. Pickup has 310,000 miles and darn good runner but at this time its needing new tires, muffler and iam at a point its time for a new ride and tired of putting more $ into it. Just had the coolent system flushed out, I put new driveshaft knuckles in and rear seal on the rear end and new battery. Will get this pickup back to being road worthy and legal and either let my Father have it for a farm pickup or use it for a trade in on a new used ride.

Sounds to me like you need a grill guard.

so... being that we know the damage and no one was hurt, the only burning question would be "did you have room in your freezer?"
