I understand the safty issues and that looking through the camera directly at the barrel could be fatal but either way we all assume our guns to be in good working condition otherwise we wouldn't trust our lives to them.
Always keep your gun pointed in a safe direction.
know your target and whats beyond.
Don't point your gun at anything your not willing to destroy.

Pretty simple rules to ward off murpheys law or Darwin. BEsides there are plenty of ways to take that picture without putting your head in front of a loaded gun.
I think his point is that you cannot have the gun pointed in a completely safe direction 100% of the time, at least if you carry. It is easy if you are handleing the gun, but in a holster the gun is against your body. If it went off randomly you would definately get some nice powder burns and the bullet may graze or enter you body depending on the holster and location. Also if your gun is holstered downward, as most are. if you are above the ground floor a bullet could go through the floor and kill someone below.

Obviously we should still follow all the safety precations, but following absolutely is not practical for carry. Ideally you should only load your weapon when you ar ready to use it so you would carry empty chamber, no mag, but most peoople find this unacceptable.

BTW: XpackerfanD, I gave you the benefit of the doubt with the digital camera. Gotta love technology.

I just want to make it clear that in NO WAY was there a head or body in the way of that particular photograph. Nor was there any possible endangered collateral targets in said direction.

Now get back to admiring my XD40sc!

Big +1

I dont really understand the issue either. Holding the loaded gun with one hand, taking the picture, and juggling a beer is another story.

Depends on the type of beer.
