10 days is long for a 1st time gun owner. Here is my XD40 I picked up today

Now I have to wait til Friday to hit the range.

Cali laws....10 days wait on any firearm. I was going to try and hit the range after I picked it up but things came up and I picked it up later then I had hoped for. Anyways, fridays are guys night out at the local range and range fees are half off. We have a group of about 6-7 going so it should be fun.

10 days? Illinois' 72 hour wait is torture for me! Don't know how you do it.

Congrats. The XD was my first as well. I do have a 19 on hold for me as well; only 60 hours to go!

yah it was a LONG 10 days. I wish it was only 3 days. Some states have no waits at all, lucky them.

Quick question for you guys. I was loading the mags and it seems the 10th round is hard to put in by hand. Had to use the loader to get it in. If I keep the rounds in the mags, will this loosen the springs enough to hand load in 4 days? I'm not sure how tight these springs are. The glock 23 I rented seemed to have the same prob and ended up loading 9 per mag.

well in mn after you get the permit to buy a gun there is no wait and it is good for 1 year

what do you have to do to get a permit there? Here we have to take a 30 question Handgun safety test, which is good for 5 yrs, you can miss 7.
1 NEW handgun per 30 days, down to the minute, so you can just say 31 days. But 3 long rifles per day under the same $30 DROS fee.
