With a CCW license there is no wait or permit to buy a handgun here in Michigan.

You can just walk in, show your license, pay, and walk out with a shiny new pistol.

yah it's pretty regulated here. I'm new to handguns/firearms, so I don't really know how it was in the past. I know my dad had to surender most of his collection before 2000 cuz they were full auto. He had 3 M16's few AK's and other stuff I can't remember.

The XD45 was on sale when I bought the 40 but I didn't want the 45 as my first gun. It was makes $50 off too. Someday I"ll get a 45.

well I couldn't wait til friday to hit the range. Wanted to break it in alone w/o everyone wanting to get shots off a gun I havn't got to shoot that much yet.

So i went to the local range that was open til 9pm. Brought in 200 rounds of 160grn WWB and 50 rounds of Fiocchi 170grn. I shot off the fiocchi frist since it has a bit more grain. All my shots seemed a lil low. I was holding the gun w/ hand over hand and both thumbs pointed down range. As I got to the WWB, the shots were still low, I tried to change the grip around the handle but no luck. I was loading 5 shots per mag and trying to take my time a bit between each shot. After a few more small changes I got to the last 50 rounds and was still shooting quite low. I then pointed my thumbs out and out (high thumbs) and bullseye, followed by another and another 10 ringers. WOW I found my grip, I continued to shoot 8,9,10 ringers. The faster I tried to shoot, the shots were ending up in the 8-9 ring. Trying to line up the shot after the flip will need more practice.

Quick question to those w/ the bitone, do the muzzle end of the slide turn blue after you shoot? Mine changed colors a bit and not sure if this is normal. I didn't clean or lube the gun before shooting out of the box.

Here's some pics of the targets, the last one shows how the high thumbs changed my accuracy. BTW 250 rounds, 250 bangs, no failures at all. LOVE IT

it was a lil blue, like a very hot flame or when you super heat metal IE firing a gun. When I left the range it was a lil blue, when I good home, there was just soot, no heat marks. My concern were the heat marks.
