I had a costumer come in last week and had me do this for him on his service model (40 if you care). It's not hard but for those nice clean edges, take a lighter and just get the bottom warm and a little pliable. Run something over them to make them smooth like a cleaning rod or a piece metal to get that sanded down look off. Be careful with the lighter more isn't better in this case. Just warm it up then rub one direction usually looks better. If you see you are moving the composite/ plastic stop let it cool sand down build up start over. Keep a bit of water near by to cool the rod and the just incase factor.

OMG

I'm not sure if it's balls you have, or a lack of brain cells! Why oh why would you do that to a full-size pistol??

J/K........... I understand the logic behind it. Very good craftsmanship on your cutting and final "details."

I would never have the guts to cut up an expensive (for me) piece of hardware like that. Besides, I already have 2 subbies.

My question: will SA *still* maintain the warranty on the gun, since you cut the thing up? Just curious if you ran that past them prior to operating.

I didn't run it past Springfield.

It's not like I cut off part of the slide or anything.

I can't imagine that it would void the warranty.

If it does then I'm SOL.
