Tough Mudder

Anyone here completed a Tough Mudder event?

Tough Mudder - Probably the Toughest Event on the Planet

My 47th birthday was last month and I decided that I'm getting old and soft and need to do something about it. I started training for the 2012 season yesterday. Finding teammates has been a little difficult. Quite a few people turn me down when they find out they may be hit with 10,000 volts of electricity as a part of the course.

Anyone who's completed a Tough Mudder, post up. I'd like to hear about your experience(s).

I haven't done it yet but I've got one coming up in Indiana November 19th. Gonna suck but I'm looking forward to it.

My brother did it to prepare for boot camp, the Mount Snow, VT one. I wanted to but I had a vacation planned that weekend already. It looked like a blast.

I'd like to hear from anyone that experience as well.

I plan on doing the 5K Zombie run in Austin next December, so I'm not opposed to these types of events.

Just checked out the one closest to me, which is Houston. Looks like tons of fun... not ashamed to admit that I doubt I could complete the entire 11 mile course. I run and stay in shape, but holy hell that looks hard... not to mention cold. Even January is cold in South East Texas.

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of running (bad knees) ... or swimming (swim like a rock) but I love a challenge. I doubt if my team will be a top 5% finisher (and invited to Toughest Mudder) but we will finish.

I know for a fact that there is not a snowball's chance that I could ever even come close to finishing. 2 bad knees, a bad lower back, and activity induced asthma would make certain that I have to drop out.

However, it does look interesting if nothing else. It just sucks knowing that I could never compete in anything like that.

I thought about it because there is one coming to Tampa in December (I'm in Orlando), but three things keep me from doing it.

1. I'm a baby when it comes to cold water and they said they are going to have ice/mud pits

2. The electro shock at the end.

3. I'm running a marathon around that same time so the two together would be way too much for me at once.

But me and some friends are going to go out there and watch everyone.

I'm officially giving the finger to my bad knees and back.
